Oh Dear What Can We Do

I'm only a "baby" into my quit, but I dont miss smoking at all!!! I used to smoke roll your owns so I had to carry around with a pouch of rolling tobacco, cigarette papers, filters, and a lighter. Man I dont miss all that paraphenalia!!!! I look at people smoking now and I realise they dont look that happy, standing , huddled against the wind and rain, choking themselves. I love not smoking, and even though the last few days have stressful to the max, not once have I thought " I need a smoke"..  I cringe when I look at photos of me in days gone by with a smoke in my hands, it just looks so ridiculous. I feel free.

What a great thread!!!!!!

Now, I'm not as long a "veteran" as many of you here, but coming from a place where 2 years smoke free is my next milestone, smoking for me feels like something I did a long time ago.  I don't crave or wish I could have "just one" anymore.  I just don't think of smoking as part of my life anymore.  I've learned how to live without them, and I have to say I enjoy this so much more than I did when I smoked.
I never cough any more.  The morning cough was the worst.  I just feel better.
HOWEVER, I never take this quit for granted.  I was a quit, start, quit, start person for many years.  The longest I had ever gone was three months.  So I am very grateful for this quit.

You CAN do this!!!!!  One day at a time.

Cheers,
Jan

Great thread idea!

I know we have tons of quit veterans who would love to share their story with us!

Now I know there are many, many ex-smokers who visit this site who have gained total or near total control of smoking cessation and live with the "smoking is but a distance memory" phenomena.  A great way to live isn't it!   First take a bow and then make us feel warm and fuzzy with a few positive words about how you feel physically and emotionally without them.
