I have a question

Hey Lance!!!

I also had an "airhead" type feeling when I first quit!  Someone suggested it was a withdrawal from the carbon monoxide!!!  Most of us have had similar experiences, but don't dwell on it!  If you can, enjoy it while it lasts, because it may never happen again!

I think some of my dizziness, off kilter feeling may have been from smoking. Today I was experiencing that for the first time in a while, so was thinking maybe the nicotene was doing it, when I quit it was better, now the nicotene in the patch may cause it. Or maybe all the changes or blood sugar as I was hungry. Weird, lots of change right now. Thanks

Lance, I'm not understanding what you mean by "negative effects." If you mean the feeling of withdrawal, the answer is yes. Chances are you are not getting the same amount of nicotine that you would if you were smoking and especially not under the same conditions. Realize cigarettes contain more than 4000 chemicals. You can probably feel the effects of a few of them leaving your body. I used to  wonder how long it takes for all of the chemicals to leave. Well, I don't know. However, you, just like me, have the rest of your life for them to do so. We've got however long it takes.

Lance,

What negative effects are your experiencing?  If the patch is causing problems, discontinue until you check with you pharmacist and doctor.  Quitting can bring on many symptoms or none at all.  Everyone's body is different and will react differently to the quit.

Hey Lance, I don't think you get the same effect from the patches as you do from smoking. The patches are pure nicotine, while cigarettes have the other 400 + added chemicals to really mess up your health. While nicotine isn't ideal of course, the patches or another type of NRT can be a life saver when trying to quit, as they were for me. I followed the patch program to a T, and am on my way to three years quit. Use what you need to in order to quit!

I was wondering, if using the nicotine patch, is it possible to be experiencing some of the same negative effects that you get from smoking?
