I, too, am sorry to hear about your friend! I hope that your visit might give him hope that quitting can be accomplished! My father and brother both went through heart attacks and even that experience didn't deter them from lighting up just as soon as they were out the door of the hospital!!! Well, the heart attacks didn't kill them, but lung cancer finally did!
Lesson to new quitters... now is the time to kick the demon's ash!!!

I am sorry to hear about your friend. 2 things(yes that is motivation for a newcomer) and (its a sad story to hear because it is the realty we all face if we pick up that nasty addiction again) So tough to hear. What keeps someone smoking who is suffering? I am sorry for him and hope he finds the strength to quit someday.

I'm sorry about your friend too Mike, and I hope that he does make those changes too. I feel like I have probably done damage that will catch up with me eventually, but at least now I wont be doing any more.

I'm sorry about your friend, Astrofan. What's happening to him is a reason why I quit. I really don't believe that if I was told to quit or else that I'd have been able to. I would be a nervous wreck then. My father couldn't quit when he was dying of lung cancer. I decided that whenever I die, I'll die smoke-free.

Thanks for the post. It is really tough to see someone we care about go through a hard time. Sometimes, these situations can serve as motivation for us to stick with the quit.
Hey Mike, good to see you! I'm sorry about your friend. I hope he is willing to make those lifestyle changes - some people refuse to. My Mom is going through some serious medical stuff and the doctor told her if she didn't quit smoking, he wasn't even going to do the surgery she needs. So needless to say, Mom is finally trying to quit. I screwed up my last quit but I'm back and this time, I will not fail. After reading your post, I am more determined than ever to stick with it and make it last a lifetime.
