I am ready.  We had a dry run last night with a small gift exchange.  All was wonderful and well.  Like Janet, I have given myself the greatest gift of all.....a smokefree life.  Now, please pass the eggnog :)

Enjoy your Holidays,

Dave

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Rock, great thread!  I am looking forward to my first smoke-free Christmas and New Years.  Spending time inside with the majority of my family sounds so much better than going outside in the freezing cold with a few of the smokers left in my family.  We're avid Euchre players too; so I'm looking forward to not having to take a "smoke break" every few hands!
I'm so excited to be seeing my little brother and his family (they are coming down from Michigan), none of whom smoke, I know they will be so proud of my husband and I for quitting.
I already got my Christmas present - I don't smoke anymore!

This is such a great thread Rock. Yes, there are so many triggers. Little things that we used to always do while smoking... Does it feel "off" for the first few times when we do those things without the cigarrette in hand? Sure did for me... But, luckily for me, I can just smile when I realize I just figured out a new trigger, and move on. It's harder whith smokers around - kinda feel left out at times... But I try to socialize a bit more with the non-smokers in my group. Or just take a break - away from the temptation.... So far so good. But I am aware that Nico is lurking around during these times, hoping to lure me back into smoking.... Not gonna happen.
Keep the quit

Rock, what an interesting thread. I'm happy to see you are prepared for this upcoming holiday season.

It would be interesting to see how others have been preparing themselves. Members, please share your ideas.

Many of you wonderful quitters are approaching your first smoke free Christmas in many years.  Are you prepared to fight the triggers, the stress, and the challenges the holidays always bring?  I had so many traditions that were associated with smoking.  Player euchre with friends Christmas night, smoking with all of them.  Meeting friends out for New Year's Eve, smoking of course.  Holiday parties where everybody smoked.  Nows the time to start getting prepared.  Find smoke free activities.  If people are smoking and its too much, find an out!  Hang out with the non-smokers!  Don't let traditions and peer pressure take away your non smoking success!  I am so excited to celebrate my second smoke free Christmas.  I am a little concerned about being around a few chain smoking friends, so I have invited them to our house this year!  They know they cannot smoke inside, so thats an easy way to see them but limit the smoking!  As for euchre, my long time euchre partner has quit smoking too, so we will have a non smoking euchre table this year.  And I know that I can always excuse myself from a situation if needed.  Just remember, it's a wonderful life!  And you have given yourself the best Christmas gift ever, the gift of not smoking!!!

P.S.  Does anybody else have any good advice for those celebrating their first smoke free Christmas?
