Walking the plank is about right kiwi!  If not for the fear factor, I think more folks would find quitting easier.  I was s****** myself for about a month before I put my last one out.

Welcome determined, and congratulations on taking that decision to change your life!  Stay close, post often and keep your resolve - you're on your way to a better way of living to be sure!

Hi determined, Welcome aboard. A few members have / are using Chantix here & all good reports as a quit aid.

You'll find most of us here have quit numerous times, practice makes perfect right ! Scared & nervous is o.k., perfectly normal,we all went through it.

There are plenty of posts & material to investigate here at SSC + the support from other members + those using similar quit methods is a godsend.

fwiw, I made the decision to quit on new years eve as well, the decision i think is the hard part. It almost feels like you're walking the plank !

Good for you.

Hello all, this is my first time on this board and my third attempt to quit smoking. I just started Chantix as I have heard several people state they were able to quit using this product! I'm more determined than the last twp attempts because of the health consequences this has on my life and if I save lots of money - that's an added bonus. A bit nervous and scared but I know I can do this with support.
I'm sure I ill be back here often to check in.... I have set a date of 7 days from now as my quit date.

Can't think of a better way to start the year.

Great post Kiwi!

Thank you for inviting all of those "browsers" into our support community. It is without any doubt that anyone and everyone is welcome here! The new members are motivated by the older members and the older members are motivated by helping them out!

I will also extend an invitation out to all those browsing the site to join in on the support and share their experiences with us!

When I log on there are usually 500 + Browsers, well  .......... browsing.

If you are one of these 'browsers', we're not a bunch of smoker haters here at SSC. If you still smoke, are scared or confused but want to stop smoking, feel free to join & please post away how you are feeling.

We are really keen to help you guys out.

Quitting doesn't have to be complicated. You can use a method or no-method. Read a book (Allen carr's easy way is good) or be as simple as not wanting to smoke more than smoking itself & not smoking that next cigarette + you can also read up about Nicotine addiction as knowledge is the key to staying quit anyhow.

Don't worry about the health & $$$ benefits, they speak for themselves. It's the lifestyle you are after. The Freedom, relaxation & calmness a smoker will never experience, you can only imagine !

Imagine this.... waking up in the morning / going to bed at night & all day not so much as a single smoking though or a single craving. Well thats what being a non-smoker feels like...... it's pure bliss, honest. I tell no lies.

As i said, we are really keen to help you guys out.

Us oldies will keep poping in just to show you there is a life without cigarettes.
