Hear you there, Cristinas. I was talking with a smoking friend of mine today, and we were laughing about the things we would (he still does them) for a smoke. I talked about how I make all appointments for the afternoons because I can't get out of bed until late mornings. However, when I ran out of cigarettes I could be up and out the door with the break of dawn to get to the store to buy smokes. I could even do it in three feet of snow and subzero temperatures. Bus breaks down. No problem. I could still make it that 3/4 of a mile. Can't take credit cards to pay for cigarettes. No problem. I'd just get a cash advance. The doctor can only see me at 9:30. Well, seriously, "Psychiatrists are the only type of doctor who doesn't make a reasonable accommodations for those of us who have trouble sleeping nights."

Good job Gimm. Isn't it amazing how now you actually feel you have control over what you can or cannot do with your money... I did not feel I had an option about buying/not buying cigarettes. But when it came to NRT (patches for me), I had the same "aha" moment when I realized I don't have to spend the money anymore. Part of the newly found freedom, I guess.
You are doing great
Keep the quit
Cristina

Good for you, Gimm. Another reason to have gone with the mints is that the nicotine was probably out of your system by the time you had to make the decision. Moving forward.

Yeah, sugar free gum and sugar free mints are helping a lot.  I was at the store tonight looking at those nicotine logenzes....thinking i want some (just one more box) lol    but i havent had any in several days now. I stood there debating back and worth, why i should and why i shouldnt lol.  Then i decided it was stupid to spend over 30 bucks for those when i could get some mints for 3 dollars. lol..Needless to say, I walked away and found some mints.  Pushing forward!!

I wouldn't stress about it. Coming off of NRT is usually easier than we anticipate. After all, we've been withdrawing some the entire time we use it. I agree with Ashley. NRT is better than smoking, but nicotine is not a harmless drug, and we should have plans for weaning off of it. If you are uncomfortable planning the quit alone then ask your doctor for help. Using the NRT as directed also provides a tested plan for weaning off.

You'll know when the time is right for you.  As for grouchy, your FRIENDS will know when the time is right   The main thing is you've got 86 days under your belt and that's no small potatoes.  Congratulations!
