did a high level spin class (so gaining weight isn't a reason to slip) it killed me i wanted to chuck and the rest of the evening all i felt was oh my...my lungs feel so weak!!  why was i doing all that damage to myself!!!!

so good times through the ruff times...my local support as well as this site and my daily blog (fahionablemomo.blogspot.com)

thank you everyone!! i have roamed around gone through the check list and will defn read more post and try and make this an active distraction... so far so good...since this quit # 48904703...and i have used every method under the stars... alan carr, patches, chantrix, acupunture... all of it...so this time i am on wellbutin (again) but i feel it's a cold turkey quit more than the drugs...

i have had a few moments of "but i usually smoked *insert place/time*" but i am telling myself that after three days, i can keep going- otherwise it's smoke again and go through this all over again!  thanks for the support and i will get in to this site for support since i do feel that the lack of it was my downfall before!

I have also taken my candy addiction to a new level- so i might have to "quit" that next!

Welcome to the SSC Leelaknight! Spend some time reading all you can here. There is a ton of info in these threads that will help you immensley! Go through the program if you haven't already as it is very helpful too. The first three days are the worst and it gets better after that, a bit each day! It really is an addiction and there is a great freedom that comes with being smoke free! Congratulations on quitting! Cold water really helps with the craves, as does candy, gum, straws, whatever "distraction" works. Changing your routine helps alot as well. (Have your coffee in a different place than you used to or rearrange your computer desk if you smoked there) We are here to help. Come and post often, find some quit buddies who have quit the same time and support each other. Thats what we do here.

Leela, welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking!  You've received some wonderful advice!  There is a wealth of knowledge here, so read through old posts.  Use the search feature to find topics that are affecting your quit.  Go through "my program" so you have a plan in place as preparation is key to success! Don't forget to set up your quit meter and add it to your posts from "my profile".  And lastly, reply to one of Mr Ed's weekly posts so you will be added to the quit list.  Being on the weekly lists was a huge motiviation for me when I first quit, and even now 1.5 years smoke free I love seeing my name, and the name of all of non-smoking buddies, every week when we reach a smoke free milestone!  We're all rooting for your success!

Hi leelaknight,

Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on being quit for 3 days! Thank you for introducing yourself and sharing your experience with us.
We strongly encourage you to prepare for your quit using the program. Quitting smoking is not only a habit, it's an addiction. This program is going to help you plan how to deal with cravings and more importantly teach you how to replace this old habit with a new one.

You'll also need to put into place a reward system. It should have three components: small one for after each craving, medium for the end of each smoke-free day and a bigger one for the end of each smoke-free week.

Start reading through the forums, you'll quickly realize that many have felt just as you do now and they are now non-smokers. You'll also be able to find a lot of tips and tricks to help you along the way.

Keep working hard and check in soon!
