Small reminders

I am so impressed with the improved sense of taste and smell.  Nothing beats the popping flavors of szechuan seafood on the tastebuds.....and the sweet smell of EVERYTHING now that is isn't intertwined with the odor of ash.  So very proud of all of us!!!!

Keep the Quit,

Dave

These are great examples!  I love to hear stories like this, it's so inspiring.  Easier breathing makes that exercise we need more accessible.  Brenda's gym time, an hour long walk for memie, and Skates' half marathon?!  By all means tell us how the training goes!  Fantastic!  Karren, I'm with you on the missed socialisation - I didn't have a clue how much I was missing when I'd leave a group to go smoke all the time.  And Rock, those high fives are like heaven after all the guilt ridden 'yes-es' we had to admit in the past when asked 'are you still smoking then?'  I too look forward to the teeth cleanings - last time was like 30 minutes, when they were always previously pushing an hour.

Love it love it love it!

When I was at the dentist's office earlier this week, the hygentist commented that she loves that I don't smoke any more as my teeth are whiter and it takes less time to clean them!  Plus, my gums are healthier too!  I love getting high fives from medical professionals instead of lectures!  Another small reminder why quitting is a wonderful thing!

Todash, this morning I went for a one hour walk with my daughter who is a non smoker and she walks really fast. I'm proud to say I was able to keep up to her pace and was not out of breath.  I hope I never smoke again.

Todash, I'm am starting to realize that it is just easier to breathe doing whatever I'm doing.  My goal is to run another 1/2 marathon in Sept.  I'm looking forward to starting my training.  My first intense cardio workout, in about 6 months, is planned this weekend.  I'll let ya know how I do.

Half way through a terrific celebratory dinner, my sister in law had to get up and go stand outside for her smoking fix. Being able to carry on with the fine dining and the great company was such a bonus for me and my husband.

Hi Todash,

Great example of a small yet significant reminder of how great it is to be smoke-free! Those moments are the ones that make you feel alive and appreciative of your quit! Thank you sharing, I would love to hear more examples!

Members, what 'little reminders' of the benefits of being smoke-free have you had?

I just raced some colleagues up three floors in my office building - they in the lift, me on the stairs.  Pipped them to the post by about half a second and it took a mere 60 seconds more for my lungs to recover.  Just another small reminder why it's so great to be quit!

Has anyone else found themselves beaming over a similar 'little thing' that's made you feel so much stronger?  I love to make note of these, and call on them whenever I feel low.  This one's a keeper!
