Gimm,  Just wondering how you are doing this evening???  There is a web site called whyquit.com that has helped me a lot to understand my addiction to nicotine.  You might find it interesting and helpful to look at.

Gimm,  You are doing great 3 days off the nrts and your feeling better.  I know it is hard I am on day 11 of my quit cold turkey so I know how hard it is to come off nicotine.  Yesterday day 10 was not to bad and today day 11 is much better.  Just think once you get this nicotine out of your system you'll be done with it once and for all. The whole kit and caboodle. Hang in there .

OMG Gimm I feel bad for you, having to go through all those withdrawls symptoms again. I don't think those lozenges are very good, my girlfriend's husband quit a while back and he is still buying those lozenges they seam to be just as addictive as cigarettes. I tried them when I first quit but I din't like them and decided to go cold turkey. Did you ever try the patch a lot of people seam to succeed with the patch. HOPE you don't smoke even though it's hard....good luck.

Well working on 3 days off nrts and its been terrible!   cravings, withdrawls, insomnia, over eating etc.  Its been a shock to feel all this again after over 7 months quit.  I've decided i will not buy any more nrts.  If i buy anything this time it will be cigs.  If i cant get off the nicotine, im going to at least enjoy how it ingest it lol  I do feel better today so far. I'm hoping the worst is behind me and the withdrawals and cravings are about done.   Still saying N.O.P.E

Hey Gimm!!!

I'm glad you got the lozenges and did not smoke!!!  Like Lolly said, whatever you do, DO NOT SMOKE!  Many here had to wean off the NRT's to preserve their quits, so do not feel any remorse or guilt or anything that is not positive thoughts!  Right now, you have to keep that Positive Mental Attitude and celebrate every day because you are doing something very important for yourself!!!

Right now, your mindset should be,  "YEAH!!!   I quit smoking over 200 days ago!!!  I know that I can quit these lozenges the same way I quit smoking!!!  I can't wait for the day that I am finally free from all nicotine!!!"   Just keep it all positive and keep telling yourself you can do this!!  You  WILL  do this!

Thanks everyone.  I do have a plan this time! I'm cutting way down.  That is working out fine for me.  I plan on stopping it all again in 3 weeks.  I'm going to cut down, go longer inbetween ect. until i'm not using much.  I wasnt expecting this to be so hard, but nicotine is nicotine.  I've just replaced how I ingested it.  I'm still addicted to it.

Hey Gimm, I am going against the grain here but I am going to say you do what you need to do just dont smoke. I would have done exactly the same as you had I experienced those overwhelming craves, and any NRT is way better than a smoke. Try and devise your own way to cut them down. I think Lolly's idea is good, reducing the size gradually? Dont rush it though, do what you feel right doing for this moment.

Hi Gimm,

Lizzie is so right!  You now need to make a plan for the withdrawal from the NRT.

It seems to me that, like me, you used smoking as a crutch, and now you still have the crutch in the form of NRT.  Everyone is right, as far as NRTs are safer than smoking, but you do need to plan your withdrawal.  I used the gum, not lozenges, and I was able to cut each piece into smaller and smaller pieces until I was off it all together.

You still need to distract yourself and use any and all of your coping mechanisms to beat the crutch.  You are over the mental stage of putting a cig. in your mouth, but the Nicotine is now the crutch.  You CAN win this stage and it will not be as bad as the first days.  Please do keep with the fight, and do not let the Nicotine win......WHATEVER IT TAKES, JUST DON'T SMOKE!

You can do this Gimm and we are always here for you.

 Lolly.
