Skates, I travel alot for work.  What helped me was that so many US hotels are non smoking, so I didn't have to haul my butt outside everytime I wanted a smoke.  I was also able to enjoy meals without smoking.  I found so many new things to do that I never was able to do as a smoker.  And boy is it easier flying when you aren't trying to catch a smoke before a flight or on a layover.  No longer do you  need to run outside the minute the plane lands.  It almost seems like the world is trying to make it harder to smoke, which is a good thing!

Temptation is always around, its your will power to tell the nicodemon that he no longer controls your life.  Congrats on surviving the wedding and weekend without smoking!  Once you get through a couple high stress events, it gets easier and easier to just say N.O.P.E!

Thanks everyone for your encouragement.  I think it was just luck that I was in a really good head space for this trip.  Work travel is typically when I've fallen off the wagon on my MANY other quits.  I have 2 more trips this month and prepping mentally now.

I think hearing from everyone here has been my saving grace this quit.  The support here is fantastic!!!  I feel as though I am in a good place right now but know that I will have rough days ahead of me...so I'm doing as everyone suggests...staying close, reading and posting often.

Good for you, Skates.....travelling and alone time, too, do create unique triggers. Great work at identifying them.  Keep you eyes focused and you will be prepared for other triggers as they occur along the way!!!!!!

Be sure to reward yourself for your success, too!!!!  A nice walk, special dessert, or souvenier just for YOU!!!!

Keep the Quit,

Dave

Hey Skates!!!

Way to go!!!  If you can get through situations like that so early in your quit, you have what it takes to be successful on this journey!  All it takes is wanting the freedom more than you want to smoke... Simple as that!

Hi Skates,

Welcome back home and back to your routine. It sounds like you experienced various triggers and tempting situations in the past week. Be very proud of yourself for staying strong and sticking with your quit. These victorious moments will help you stay strong and prepare you for future temptations. As Cristina said, feel empowered each time you beat a craving!

Keep working hard and check in soon!

Congratulation Skates!!! Isn't it amazing how we manage to break the routine, the cycle of addiction... One breath at a time, you are doing this!!! Great job in managing your triggers! You get to learn alot about yourself in this process and it makes you feel empowered everytime you get to beat another crave.
Keep the quit
