dont worry i get this to i had a car accident when i had it once as i just could not concerntrate at all. I began to do things like open and close the window and turn the radio on/off i was panicking terribly. The more i tried to concerntrate the more this feeling happened in my head until i experienced the feeling of elastic bands snapping in my scalp. It was so freightening but doc says its only muscle. I think that when it is your head or your heart you worry about it more. If you get this feeling in your head DONT challange your thoughts just LET IT BE and FLOAT past it, rremember its nothing and nothing can hapen to you as a result of it. xxxx i know its hard!!

I get this too! I have had an MRI and a cat scan. Nothing wrong. It's just from being really really tense all the time. Us anxious people seem to have forgotten how to really relax. You know, totally let loose all over. Do you do any kind of meditation or anything? I don't but am thinking of checking into it.

I feel this too. It is almost like a steel band around your head squeezing. I have also had it so that it feels like my brain is coming out of my head. Very distressing. The good news? My doc says it is tightening of muscles in the scalp and neck. I have had it so bad it hurts to lay my head on a pillow. Hope it goes soon. Julie

My panic always begins with being too aware of my heart. I haven't had the same problem you are describing regurarly, but sometimes I do get this pounding pressure (not really pain) in the front of my head when I'm feeling anxious. When I quit Paxil I had a constant scratching noise in my head. Are you in the middle of getting off a medication? I wonder if because your panic attacks begin with this pain in your head that, like the rest of us, you are very aware of the physical sensations associated with it. I know that I am constantly checking my heart rate and I also know that it makes it speed up because I'm expecting something to be wrong. Maybe that is the same way you are feeling with your head pain?

Jen, Make an appointment with your doctor. You may also want to keep a daily journal. Write in it everyday :) This may help pinpoint why your panic attacks are happening and perhaps produce the trigger. Take the anxiety test as well and take a copy to your doctor. This may also help better assess the situation. Josie _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

Hello everyone, I posted something a few days ago that referred to my panic attacks starting with a strange feeling in the head and someone replied saying that they, too, had a 'tight head' feeling that instigated their panic. I've been having this a lot lately, mostly when I'm at work which is an already nerve-wracking situation. I'm just wondering what possibly causes this? And if there are ways of making it go away? Because my thoughts are always -- my head is going to explode. There's something wrong with my brain. Etc. Etc. Etc!!!
