Ruby,

We are always here for you.  Losing a pet can be very traumatic and know that we are with you every step of the way.  We encourage you to have your emergency plan on you at all times and to turn to this in times of need. For your reference http://www.stopsmokingcenter.net/program/copingplan.aspx

Your focus is to spend time with your feline friend.

Hi Ashley, Thanks for replying.  As for coping, I'm walking everyday, browsing the forums, and in general just praying for the strength.  I don't have anyone in Wichita to turn to, so I'm bascially on my own.  Yesterday, my dog of 11years is now not doing well.  If anything that would make me start smoking again right now would be his death.  This is one obstacle that I don't think I will be able to be strong enough not to smoke.   I've been speaking with my ex-husband in Topeka about Maverick (he loves him just as much as I do), I'm going to ask him if he'll come to Wichita during the worse part.  Hopefully, he will, which will give me someone to lean on and hopefully with his help I won't go back to smoking.  This is my worst fear that Maverick will have to put to sleep during my quit time.  To stop smoking is something I want very much.  It does play a very big part in my medical problems.  Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.

First of all, congratulations on 10 days smoke free! It is a major battle and you're winning. So take a moment and reward yourself - a simple pat on the back might do it, at times... You are so right about the roller coaster feeling - it will be with you for a while. So you might as well try to enjoy it. As they say - keep your eyes on the prize at all times! It will work miracles during those down times when all you'll think is "just to have one"... Don't!
Cameless, I am glad you posted the quote of the day - I wast just reading it and thinking how true it is...
Keep the quit

Congratulations on 10 days smoke free!

You are almost through Heck Week and halfway through Zombie Month.  What coping strategies are you using that are working for you?  How are you keeping yourself motivated?

Quote of the Day:
Many men fail because they quit too soon. They lose faith when the signs are against them. They do not have the courage to hold on, to keep fighting in spite of that which seems insurmountable. If more of us would strike out and attempt the "impossible," we very soon would find the truth of that old saying that nothing is impossible... abolish fear and you can accomplish anything you wish.

First, congratulations on 10 days of freedom.  Make sure that you reward yourself well for this achievement.  I am sorry to hear of your health issues but I do know that smoking makes most health issues WORSE.  I am also sorry to hear that you wont be able to do your volunteer work but there are other ways to keep busy. Puzzels, house work(yuck), walks, needlepoint etc.  I think you get my point, just don't smoke.

,Hello everyone, I'm proud to say I'm 10 DAYS FREE!  yeehah!   I've really been on a rollcoaster ride during HECK WEEK, and came very close to smoking again.   I'm not just sitting in my house hoping I make my quit, I have some medical problems I'm also dealing with and doctors who are slowing my process of getting back out into the world.  I will not go into the root of what it is, why should I bum all of you out also, right.  Besides it complicated.  It looks like my volunteer work will be put on hold also which saddens me.  But I've fighting just as hard as ever, and still plan on winning my fight against cigarettes.  Thank you for just being there.
