If you crave the blue smoke, have I got a coping mechanism for you!

Wear your Hall of Fame T-shirt (on its way), and dance in the front yard or better yet go for a long ride on the bike!

The blue smoke will be too embarrassed to show its face again!

Send pictures!

Lil No reason to be jealous. You have the same thing cristinas and I both have...............today. We didn't smoke yesterday , we didn't smoke today and tomorrow isn't here yet. I can't , We can. In numbers we can acheive what may seem impossible by ourselves. Whether you realize it or not you are keeping us smoke free by posting and telling us that it hasn't somehow magically gotten any better than it used to be being a smoker. Welcome. breather

I am nice... but I am NOT that nice... I treasure every day I achieved as it was as hard as it is for you now. Trust me, about 300 days from now on, you will look back and give wise advise (whom am I kidding???) to some other newbie... lol
Until then, take it one craving at a time and you will succeed. Some smart guy once said "you can do anything for 30 seconds". I truly believe it is true. So I set my eyes on the next minute for the first few weeks/months... And then, it is too hard to think that you "waisted" all those days you did not smoke... and you keep on going.
But you know what? I still have moments/days when I crave that blue smoke... Just fewer, lighter and further apart
Keep the quit
Cristina

Thanks for helping me to drag my sorry ar*e into yet another smoke free day

Cristinas: ... thank you for the quote ... it helped x

I have no doubt I shall need to call on you all again in the very near future.

P.S.  I am sooooooo jealous that both you and breather have so many smoke free days - what a pity that there is no 'donation' scheme going on here ... you could donate me a couple of hundred days between you and still have plenty left over!!

Found this quote today and thought of you

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you till it seems you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.

This is how it has been for us people trying to quit - one craving at a time, one emotion at a time... and it does get better
Keep the quit
Cristina

Lil,

Your mind and body can play tricks on you!  Take it easy, take a nap as suggested and relax yourself.  Keep track of these symptoms and check with the doctor, if they persist. Use lots of water and cut out any oily and greasy foods, this may help your heartburn.

Your body is trying to heal and it may take time, keep a journal of what you are feeling, this may help to pinpoint triggers and excessive symptoms.

Start preparing for your one week celebration!

Hello Lil  Tired ? That's normal. Try and get adequate sleep and if you can catch a nap , hey why not ! You're right , your mind and body will play tricks on you now. Even the smallest thing can happen now to send us ballistic. Easier said than done but the small things need to stay small. Allowed to get out of hand and ugly situations occur. It doesn't even take anything to happen for us to be panicky or distressed. Don't forget that your mind and body are going through major changes right now. I can remember having a sore throat early in my quit. I can't really comment on a physical ailment though as I have no medical background so I'll say I don't know. Try and relax and get enough sleep. Trying to stop smoking is hard enough without added problems. Remember H.A.L.T. Don't get too much of any one of these four things. breather

So today my body and my mind are fighting dirty and  I need lashings of reassurance, hints, tips and good old fashioned wisdom to help with this.

Here is my list - feel free to help me out:

I am feeling depressed
I am feeling very panicky
I am super tired and lethargic
I have heart burn and digestive upset
but the very most annoying thing is that I have a very strange sensation in my throat - it kind of feels like i am being strangled (not that I really know what that feels like!) my throat is very .... tight and constricted??? and I have to confess this feels a bit frightening

is all of this quite normal?

Lil x
