week 3

for 14 år siden 0 221 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi everyone,

Week three is tough one. Ron , you used a great image with the nicotine monster, or Nicodemon. Its wants back in, but give it a good fight and kick its butt!

Peteg, having such a vivid reminder, like you manager, is a good way to stay motivated. Use that image of her when you're tempted to smoke. Remember the lingering smell and how it fill up your office.

Members, how are you are going to reward yourselves when you are one month smoke free?

Pete, you are so correct on the thought of the worse thing to do is hang up your quit vs. the pain you might be going through now.  Yes this at times is not fun. yes it sucks at times. The nicotine monster still wants in even though he knows his life is limited at this point. You've gotten this far you know you want this like all of us. You've done this before and you know that going back to smoke just brings you back here starting over again. The latter is worse by far than just doing it now. NOPE and HALT will keep the nicodemon at bay. It doesn't have to be that f-ing bad unless you want to take it there. Maybe do something fun  tomorrow to celebrate that you are indeed doing it. Ron

Sparky (yeah, back to Sparky) -- I am so there.
So tired of this f-ing quit.
So tired of being glib and strong and funny and insightful.

But every time I want to hang it up, someone appears (an angel, if you will) who reminds me of what I was.
A manager who smokes so rarely, it barely counts, comes in and I think my office has been fumigated with smoke.  She has this smoke-reek-aura thing going on so bad that I can't think of anything else.  Her smell actually LINGERS after she's gone.  Oh yeah, THAT'S what we want, right??

One puff.  One puff is all it takes.
Do you want to even THINK about what one puff will do to you and your progress??

Only 3 weeks in, and I'm so tired of this stupid, senseless battle.  The only thing worse is hanging it up.

If you won't, I won't.
Acutally, I won't, regardless; I was just trying to be supportive, you know?

Sparky,
So happy for you to be doing this quitting again, and your having a little humor in the process all good things
RockNRoller,
I kind of had what you had.   What happens is there is a change in mucus production in the nose and it increases when you quit which means you get a lot of post nasal drip. That can irritate the back of the throat and so it can cause some pain in the area.  It also could just be a virus because that's when blisters form. We also are in that time of year so Josie is right to just have it checked out to see if it's quitting related or just a virus.

Rock,

Although we all have different symptoms and many that are similar, it is a good idea to check with your doctor regarding this.  We do all heal in different ways, but it is important to make sure certain symptoms are not medical.  Your doctor can help you with this.

Let us know,

Hi Sparkey,

Hang in there, I know exactly what you are going thru, I quit on the very same day you did September 30, 2010.
I find this week to be worse then last week. I am drinking plenty of ice water and keeping myself busy. I try to stay active during the day, and I read as much as I can about this addiction at night. Has anybody experienced white blisters in the back of their throat after quitting? I have one and its been there almost 3 weeks now, any idea what this is?

Hi Sparky,
You reminded me of that gentleman who's mantra was "ice water, ice water, ice water." Haven't seen him on here in quite a while and am sorry to say I can't remember his screen name, either. Anyway, hang in there! The third week was rough for me too!

Ron, thank you so much.  I know the routine, but sometimes the sweets take over LOL.  I did buy carrots today, made humus, have lettuce for wraps, celery sticks, fiber bars , popcorn in the pantry and getting ready to jump on the treadmill.

Know what?  If feel so good to take a deep breath and not cough   One of my reasons to quit.

Yes, the blah week in spades.  You see you can do this but then you think ok I've seen this before done it, so can I go back.  Heck no you will not!!!.  Two more days and the 3rd week is over, then one months around the corner where we are going to celebrate with something really really fun.  Let's plan now...so about the snacking maybe you can find some lower cal ways to put things in your mouth.  I love frozen grapes which you can buy them fresh now at the farmers market and freeze them. Pop a couple in your mouth, super icy fun and can eat unlimited amounts. You may not be a veggie person but I always had a big bad of cut up carrots, celery, daicon.  Popcorn is always good without the butter. One idea someone gave me once was using leaves of lettuce for bread to make sandwiches.  You can also use lettuce to make raps.  Just have fun with trying new stuff and if you gain a little weight it's not the end of the world. Most of us lost it all later when we were further in our quits.

Keep it up your doing great...the beach is around the corner, crox and ... are waiting. Ron
