Glad to hear you were able to stay strong! I never considered the connection between the change of seasons and engaging in usual activities that may make it difficult to remain smoke-free.
Thank you for sharing this Campnfish.  Obviously there are many factors that may make it challenging to remain smoke-free, but I will remember this when encouraging others who are struggling even after 60+ days into their quit.

Thanks Campnfish, you are so right about the seasons.
 
My main reason to quit was not wanting to stand out in the snow to smoke, but now that the weather outside is nice, it is a little harder keeping that resolve.
 
Lainey, I was the one, actually, that had the rough patch, not Campnfish. But thanks for the reply, all is appreciated.

Campnfish! I am glad you made it through that rough patch.  Good for you! We have to remember that quitting smoking is like every other day in real life, sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug, somedays go by brightly, and some just suck. Remember to come back here and read, it helps every single time and it IS how most of us got through our quits! The help is here waiting for you!

I'm not sure what site I read this on but it made sense to me.  You will go through triggers in your first year quit as the seasons change because you are engaging in activities without cigs that you used to do with cigarettes.  I know this is my first spring without a cig EVER.  I was one of those who was born smoking.  I knew the triggers were coming so I could prepare.  For example, my fishing pole and my cigarette were best friends, but I found I could actually still catch fish without a cigarette hanging out of my mouth, in fact it was much easier to reel without smoke blowing in my eyes!  Instead of taking a break from my gardening and smoking, I would still sit in my favorite lawn chair and have a glass of tea and think about how lucky I am that I can actually smell the flowers I just planted.  A lot of people are taken by surprise triggers at seasons change, just know they are coming and be prepared....

I believe I'm back on the good side of quitting.
 
Just had to re-group and also change a few "smoking rules" around my house for my son.
 
Thanks again for all your help..you are a great bunch of quitters.

I think I might have narrowed the problem down to two:
 
H: Hungry-I have gained 15lbs-so that's not it
 
A: Angry-I have had to deal with some real stupid people lately and that makes me angry-so this is probably part of it
 
L: Lonley-I have a lot of good friends and co-workers and joined a bowling league to meet new friends-so that's not it
 
T: Tired-I still don't sleep real good-so this is probably part of it
 
Now.. to work on how to fix it ??
 
Suggestions??

Charm  There are some of us that just don't stop smoking for a week , feel great and never think of smoking again. For some of us it's a long arduous process with only limited reprieve. We need positive reinforcement to get through the tough times. Know that you can start a new day at any time you like. If things aren't the way you want them to be you can change them to suit yourself or at least the way you perceive it to be. Ride a bike in the rain , row a boat down the river , or go for a drive or a walk. The longer we don't smoke the more it doesn't matter whether anybody else smokes or not. I'm in your cheering section and know that you can do this. You're the most important person here. Excellent for you. breather

I don't really know what the problem is, but maybe:
 
My son is still smoking (he lives with me but does try to hide it)
 
Someone I consider a friend has started back smoking (they have there own reasons)
 
Now we all know that these are not my problems... just excuses..
 
I am having just a hard of time dealing with my quit as I did the first few weeks.
 
But I will go back to the start and pull out all my resources I used then and reapply them.
 
One of the most important ones:  Coming here to my friends for support.
 
I am truly relying on this site to pull me up by my boot strings and set me up straight again.
 
I know it can..

Charm, I wake up every morning and tell myself that I am not going to smoke today.  I have dreams quite often about smoking, but I know they are just dreams.  I never want to stink like smoke again.  I never want to spend $10+ a day on cigarettes.  I never want to hide my smoking from my family and friends again. 
 
Put together a list of pros and cons.  I'm sure you can find a million good things about not smoking.  I doubt you can find one good thing about smoking.  And when you have major cravings, look at the list of pros!

Hello charm. I think the reason that you've made it this far in your quit is because you put alot of effort in at the start , you're back here now and you've come so far to throw in the towel now. I know how much you've put into this and how determined you are to succeed. The nature of this disease of addiction is so incidious that it tells us that we're not doing very well when we actually are and makes us feel like we're doing well when actually not so much. A lot happens in a day good and bad and I know how easy it is to get into a nico"slump" but just when it's least expected something will happen or somebody will come along to restore the faith again and we'll know then that things are going to be ok.
