MissMarple

It's nice to see MM remembered. Her wit and humour touched everyone here I think. My remembrance of her was when I first came to this site MM and another lady were about 30 or 40 days not smoking and seemed happy about it. I couldn't imagine how anyone could be laughing and joking because I was totally miserable with only a few days smober. I really looked up to them because 30 or 40 days seemed so far away. They helped to make quitting bearable and maybe even fun. Sadly missed. breather

Dave and Brenda, thank you so much for keeping me in touch.

For me, it feels like it just happened.  I'm so glad her family has kept in touch too.

Dear Desiree, if you find this post, please know that I'm grateful that you are here.  I miss your mom.  So much.  I can't imagine what you must be going through as the holidays approach.

I've gone to the church and lit candles for her.... as much for her as for my grief too.  Yesterday, I bought a gardenia.  I live on a river that flows to the pacific.  I said a prayer for your mom, and let the gardenia go.  I plan on doing that again tommorrow.

hugs for you sweet girl.  I hope you are doing okay.

Brenda, your request has been fulfilled.  Karen's daughter, Desiree, logs onto and posts to her mother's site frequently and is struggling with the holidays.  Thanksgiving was difficult and will not be going home for the Christmas holidays for the first time.  She's heading to England!  Coping with loss it hard.

I, too, miss her wit and laughter, but rejoice in the memory and support she offered as we bouncing around trying to break this addiction.  Always be grateful.

Keep the Quit,

Dave

I'm sorry that you didn't know, cvdeb. Yes, she died last December 31st of lung cancer. I think that she only knew she had it for about five or six months, and she went into hospice care during the last month.

What a lovely tribute and kind words to send to Miss Marple's children Brenda.  I'm sure they will appreciate your thoughtfulness and that your message will get through to them.
So sorry to hear this devastating news has just found its way to you cvdeb!  What a shock it would be if you are just finding it here now!  My heart goes out to you for your tears and loss :(
I never met Miss Marple at all but I signed up on SSC the week she passed away.  It was an incredibly somber time to join this online support group and I was touched by the outpouring of heartfelt support for her and her family from so many people here.
I realize her importance and see how her influence continues to touch so many lives yet today. Her posts and HOF story are still inspiring and it is obvious that she will not be forgotten soon. May her indomitable spirit and great humor carry on!

I would love to talk to her children too.

But I remember the most important thing was being there for the birth of her grandchild.  She wanted to retire too.  I remember her telling me that.

I didn't know Miss Marple died.  I'm devestated by this news.  I know I'm coming in late.  I've come and gone with my quit.... and have only lately been successful.

She was one of my closest friends here.  I was wondering where she was.

To continue her tribute:

She and I connected at the time because we were trying hard to prevent crime, and rehabilitate those that had committed crimes.  I know, and she knew, that we loved all of the people that we were trying to help.  We also knew and connected with the fact that we couldn't help everybody.

I loved her sense of humor.  I am mourning tremendously.  How did I miss her death.

There's nothing left to write.  I spent an hour outside crying and I wasn't logged off.  So that's something.

I will miss her so much.

It has been almost  year since MissMarple's death, and I've been thinking about her and her children a lot lately. I mistakenly deleted her, along with many others, as a Facebook friend many months ago, so I haven't been able to keep up with how well her children are getting along. If anyone here has access to her Facebook page, please post a little statement from me to her children: "Sometimes pain brings out anger, but we should try not to forget that she wouldn't have left had she been able to help it. Heaven needs the young and the old and the middle age, too. Your mother will greet you in heaven, after you've lived out your natural lives. Be good to yourselves and each other. It will get better.
