Thanks Everyone,
Your words keep me going..

I made it thought today smoke free and that is what really matters..Not Smoking for today.
Tomorrow is tomorrow and I will not worry myself with tomorrow anymore. Just today.

I have had a lot on my plate with health issues and billing issues and I guess it got to me.
I got tired, weak, angry and scared and let my guard down..
What I learned from this is, Never forget H.A.L.T.
Take the time to eat, rest, sleep or whatever it takes, but Don't Smoke..
Smoking is the last thing I need with the health issues I have.
Smoking Never Helps Anything..It sure Kills you though..

NTAP,
Red..

Hi Roses,

Glad you're back up on your feet and moving ahead with your quit.  Continue to take it one day at a time, read through forums and post with us - whatever it takes to help you through cravings.
Best of luck in your quit!

Roses  Sorry to hear about this. I know full well that it could just as easily be me if I'm not careful. It could be anyone for that matter. Remember that we're always in your corner. Never give up on yourself. breather

He can sneak up out of nowhere..Never be complacent..Take my word for it. I know this one well..from experience..
I just had a 2 day relapse and will be starting over again.
I am just not sure when. I just threw 2 packs in the trash.
So hopefully I'm off to a good start again..

Hey VIV,

Yes, those cravings do sometimes re-appear, but they come with less and less frequency over time. I had one on Friday night, and it kind of took my by surprise. When I thought about it, it made sense, though. I was with an old friend, drinking the same cheap beer that I used to drink with her. For many years, she and I would sit on the porch and smoke while we drank beer. She lives in another town now, so I don't see her as much. So this particular experience of not smoking when I see her is still kind of new. ...Fortunately for me, she quit smoking a few years before I did, so that additional trigger is not an issue.

But here is the thing. Last month, I went for a couple of weeks without thinking about smoking at all. Most triggers have been extinguished for me.  I am mentally free of this for the vast majority of the time. It's just a matter of older quitters being aware that one of those urges could pop up out of seemingly nowhere, and they/we will have to extinguish another trigger that might have been missed before.

You will find peace and freedom, VIV. That one year mark is coming sooner than you think.

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

I really need to be reminded of this. I had the impression that Ex Smokers just gradually got over it, habit broken, job done. However, everyone is different. It's good to be able to recognise that I feel at great risk after seven months and thus must keep working at it! My husband who stopped about ten years ago hardly mentioned smoking from the time he stopped. He didn't mind me smoking at home or others when they visited. It has been a very rare occasion for him to say I just fancy a cigarette. I must keep coming back for support here. This post is very welcome. Viv N.O.P.E.

I think I'm going to need this type of reminder over and over and over and over.
