Thanks Ashley & Breather;

I am proud that I didn't 'wait' for the 'right time' again - I knew if I didn't jump right back in that two or three years would go by and I would still be puffing away, wishing I wasn't.

I am using the patch this time and Day 1 was a piece of cake (as is today).  I had laser therapy last time and I do think that it has it's merits - I was smoke free for about 1 month with no NRT and I could not have accomplished that without some alternative therapy.  The patch does seem to give me some sense of comfort in addition to the nicotine supply.

The funny thing is - I kind of vacillate between coming to the SSC and not... I do find that it makes me think of smoking; perhaps more than if I didn't read and post.  I was out for dinner on the weekend (all with non-smokers) and I really wasn't thinking about it at all... all of a sudden someone piped up and said "Oh, did you quit smoking Tori"?  Well, that was it of course - I lasted about three minutes after they mentioned it and then had to go outside and have a cigarette!  I had sat there for 2 hours or more and was having no thoughts about smoking at all!  So...  it's just interesting.  Having said that:  I love coming on and seeing everyone's stats - including my own - I love the sense of community and the shared experiences.  What's a girl to do?!

Congrats on Day 2!

Slips are often a part of quitting. They happen but it looks like you have recovered quickly and are right back at it!  That takes a lot of strength so I hope you acknowledge that.

What have you learned from your past quit attempt? What will you be doing differently? What will you be doing the same?

Welcome back Satori  Excellent for you climbing back up on the water wagon ! Never quit quitting. Maybe catching the cold was just what you needed because we don't need any fond memories of smoking to romanticise about. The last cigarettes I smoked were stale and terrible ( just the way I need to remember them). Make this the fight of your life because we truley are fighting for our lives. Yay for you ! breather

Hi everybody (old & new)!

I am delighted to report I am on Day 2 after self-destructing in early December.  Ordinarily a year or more would have passed before I would convince myself to ditch the stupid cancer sticks again - so to me this is remarkable (and I'm VERY thankful that I caught a cold last week that included a nasty sore throat - sure helps!  Only an ex-smoker can appreciate that sort of thing ).
Happy to see all the new quitters out there and thanks to you 'oldies' for your continued advice and guidance.
Happy Smoke-Free New Year to you all!

Tori

P.S.  Thanks for the replies from you guys who were advising me when I caved... just because I didn't listen does not mean I didn't appreciate it!  Thanks again
