losing my resolve

for 12 år siden 0 2534 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well that doesn't sound like "losing my resolve" (covers eyes with open palms and shakes head) - that sounds like "woe is me" and we don't do that or we might just drag ourselves down into an open pack!

Have your day off from the job in hand (just don't smoke) and get back to the real thing tomorrow!

11 months - brilliant!

Best,

Eyja,

I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad day.  It sounds like an overall crappy day you are having.  I am sure that you already know this but just a reminder, this day will pass and smoking will only make it worse. You have worked so hard on your quit and given so many members support and hope. According to our homepage you are the most helpful member on the SSC! That's a big deal and it deserves recognition. Give yourself a big reward for getting through today and for sticking to your quit even when times get tough.

You are are an inspiration!

I also want to add, you have quit smoking and shed 15 pounds all within a year?! That's a huge achievement! Celebrate what you have accomplished and be present to your strength. You will get to where you want to be but for goodness sake be easy on yourself when you need to be.  Feeling lazy is ok sometimes; listen to your body.

We are all here rooting for you!

Eyja,
I can definitely relate, because I have been there.  And don't forget, now that the Christmas season is over, its somewhat of a letdown at the best of times, and there are always some extra pounds that have to be dealt with.
My doctor told me when I quit smoking that things happen in three's.  First three days of quitting is hard, first three weeks is really hard, first three months, things are getting a little easier, and the first 3 years, situations and thoughts and feelings can come up and slap us in the face without warning.
Now there are times when I get days like that, only difference is, I don't think about cigarettes anymore, because now they have absolutely no meaning for me.  and you will get to that point too!

Treat yourself with kindness today, don't get down on yourself, but respect your feelings and don't push too hard.  Perhaps a nice hot bath, a soothing cup of tea after work, and an easy night.  Tomorrow is a brand new day!
And congratulations on your stats.  You are nearly at the one year mark, Eyja.  That is fantastic.  All your hard work is paying off.  Remember to reward yourself for all your accomplishments.  You did the right thing by posting how you felt today.  I would do that whenever I felt down too.

Keep going strong,
Jan

the holidays are over, the rains have settled in here  -  like it's 'crying' outside, and i'm tired for no good reason.  i don't want to smoke and ruin all i've accomplished in this last 11 month quit, but i feel very blue today.  i gained 25 lbs when i quit smoking and was so proud of myself to get back into my sz 4 jeans on new year's eve -  i just had 10 lbs left to shed to get back to my pre quit weight.  but i got lazy the last week, put a few lbs back on, lost my energy, look pretty old & crappy, and am stuck on a work project that i just can't figure out! i need to make work related calls but don't feel like talking to anyone today -  i have to get my work done but instead am dragging big time.  i guess the best part of my day is that i didn't have a smoke and ruin that too. i guess that is the value of what i've learned here - it wouldn't help to smoke anyway, even if my old junkie friend is just waiting to cheer me up with a little puff. sometimes i would rather smoke than be a crybaby though! argghh!  so that is my H.A.L.T.E.D.  rant for today.
