Congratulations everyone ! 2008 is my year as well coming up in November. 2008 is the year I woke up and finally came to my senses. 2008 is the year that I decided that I wasn't going to be a sucker any longer ( cigarette or otherwise ). The people that sold cigarettes to me didn't mind poisoning me for their profit The people that work for big tobacco probably don't smoke either because they know what's in it and they're smarter than to smoke it. 2008 was the year that I got mad as hell at my addiction and decided that it had to go. Thank you everyone for showing me that it's possible to be smoke free on a daily basis. Excellent for all of you. breather Don

Well, how wonderful to see everyone - and congratulations to all!!!

Mr. Jazz and I celebrated 5 years quit on Jan 3rd of this year - unbelievable. I remember when I first started coming here and I was in awe of anyone who had quit for even just a few days. It seemed like an impossible feat. Yet here we are, slightly over 5 years later and enjoying everything to the fullest. Thanks to all my friends at SSC for their strength, support, sound advice, laughter and friendship. You've been invaluable to our quit! Hugs.

Hey there! Great post, Jim! Congrats!

I haven't been here in ages but can't tell you how it warms the cockles of my cold, dead heart to see all the familiar avatars, faces, and fantastic quitters.

My five year anniversary was yesterday, April 01. April fools! The sky did not fall. The joke was on me because I actually stayed quit. Still can't believe it! Would never have happened but for this site. Jim, you were the first to respond to my post and I'll never forget all who helped me both the newbies and the old timers. Back when I thought anyone with 30days was a god and that I'd never make it that far, practically memorizing the archived posts from Shevie, Tom, Nonic, and Duffis. It was rough! I don't know why but the 30-day mark meant the most to me. My reward was a (coveted) Starbucks commuter cup that I still have on my shelf, sitting there like trophy. It reminds me that I never, ever want to go back.

Congrats to you, Jim and to all in our Class of 2008!!! You guys made the gruesome business of quitting so awesomely FUN. Thank you ALL!!!

Ahhhh!!!

I love seeing the gang roll in!!! Happy Anniversary, all!!! I'm finally getting back into the swing of things and hope to be logging in every day during the week again! I had to take a few days off to converse with fellow glassblowers and then try to get caught up at the end of last week... not quit there yet! It's amazing how much you miss here when you're away for a while!

Just to let you know, I splurged on a 5 year reward and bought a glassblowing lathe with some of my quit money! It will come in very handy for making something that I want to make vs. always making things that others want! Now, I just have to find the time to get everything set up!

Congrats my fellow freedom seekers! Drop a line often and let us all know how things are going in your lives! I think of you all often!
