WooHoo Jim!  You GO GUYS!  5 Years Quit - that is like a full turn over with lung tissue. I imagine those 5 yr quit lungs are pink and clean and really enjoy a hearty laugh, hike, run, cycle or whatever the heck it is you want to do with them!  I hope more of your fellow Quitters join you in this monumental Anniversary!  I bet you'll think of something monumental to celebrate this achievement! Congratulations Jim, belle et al!

I haven't been on here in years, but thought I'd check in today. I saw this post and had to reply. I am a 2008 quitter. It will be 5 years for me in June. I absolutely can not believe that I can say I have been smoke free for almost 5 years! I remember seeing others at five years when I first started and wondering what that would feel like if I ever got there. It feels amazing! The first few months of my quit I experienced some of the lowest moments of my life, but I'm happy I made it through. I couldn't have done it without your help and the help of many others here. I was not the most 'vocal' at the time, but I read everything and it made all the difference. So thanks to all my fellow 2008 quitters and everyone else who was around then. And congratulations on five years!!! When I first quit it seemed to control my every thought. Honestly, I still think about smoking from time to time, but it's not the same. I feel in control now, not like the cigarettes are controlling me. I feel free. I have been planning a trip for my family to go to Disney and I have been cringing at the cost of the trip. Just looked at my quit meter and the money I have saved over the years...feeling a little better about it now. For any newbies reading this thread...hang in there! Five years may seem like a long time now, but it will go quickly once you hit your stride. And you will.

Hello All,

I've been watching y'all since 2004, when I quit...I'm a real oldie!  Many of you inspired me back then and many still do.

It's so great to see people achieving Freedom and coming back here to help others.  Some folk think that people like me have a need to come back.  Personally, that is not true.  It's just a feeling that I should try to help others quit so that they never have to suffer from their past addiction.

Jim, whatever you do I hope you enjoy your celebration...you deserve it, along with gratitude from many here on this site for your great and inspirational posts.  You must have helped so many!

Love Lolly.

Happy Anniversary!!!

It's been a long while since we have had a reunion on the Forums!  I wanted to get a thread started in hopes that all of the 2005 quitters would stop by, share your stories and let everyone know how you have been enjoying your smoke-free lives!  My anniversary is coming up next month and I am getting excited about celebrating!!!  I'm not quite sure how I will be celebrating, but maybe someone will throw a few ideas out there!

Everyone who was here 5 years ago became my quit buddy and helped me to conquer the nico-demon and I will be eternally grateful!  I can't wait to hear from all of you 2008 Quitters and everyone else who was making a difference on this site back then!

        CLINK!!!

            Jim
