Thanks for logging on with your support working on it. Always appreiciated.Do you find you are getting any of the same triggers now that you have conquered your first year?
Thanks breather for sharing and reminding me of my days in,I thought I was farther away from 250
Also thanks to Lolly ,Viv , Roses and Sparky,It is so amazing that such a bad habit can bring so many Wonderful caring people together.
Wishing us all the strength to continue enjoying the things we love without interference of triggers.
DON'T SMOKE. I am certain you will now give the demon your quit. It is yours now and the Spring is the most wonderful season. Spring flowers, grass to be mowed, outings with family and friends, a walk though the park, sitting outside and taking deep wonderful breaths with out coughing and no STINKIN ASHTRAYS
Sly My mistake. 249 days. A good reward might be to get a new plant for the garden to remind yourself that you're a smoker no longer. Just a thought ? Excellent for you. breather
Hello Sly I saw your post and had to log in and respond. Because it's the first Spring for you as a non smoker there are still situations that you'll find yourself in where you'll be saying to yourself OK now what do I do when I'd normally light up. Take some deep breaths of that fresh Spring air or enjoy a hard candy or cold drink of water. This is a learning process and we're all learning how to live our lives smoke free on a daily basis. A while back my car stopped dead in the middle of the road and the first thing I did was reach in my pocket for my pack and lighter which of course weren't there. That's how mentally ingrained the smoking patterns are. The good news is that everything that you do smoke free also builds confidence that you don't need any. Every day that we don't smoke is a miracle. You've come I think it's 237 days which is a huge achievement. Be proud of yourself today and come just a little bit farther one day at a time. Excellent for you for not smoking today. breather
You are the whole reason I'm logged on right now. I know that each season brings a whole new set of triggers. You will feel good at the end of this spring of not smoking. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you extinguished a whole bunch of spring triggers. Each time you ignore those habits of thinking about smoking, you reduce or eliminate that trigger. So the next time around, it will be weaker or just gone. it does get easier all the time.
In the meantime, enjoy those Lilacs. The flowers have been awesome this year.
Dear Sly
I feel like you. I scrubbed my patio furniture down last week, then oiled it. Very pleased as its looking good. However, I used to love sitting in the sun with a glass of wine and .......you know what! So now I am declining to sit there and carry on gardening instead.
I will get over this, just need to start relishing the return of my sense of smell. I have noticed that I am picking up smells more than I did before. So I will try to take pleasure in that.
Spring and summer provide so many triggers, as you are discovering. It's great that you have recognised this early, so that you can be prepared and aware, thus avoiding a slip.
