stuck in a panic attack

for 19 år siden 0 2 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Sue! I know exactly how you feel. Panic on top of panic is the most trapping horrible thing ever. I have spent two weeks of my life (in FEB) feeling trapped in panic. Panic attack after panic attack. You panic coz of some thought, then you panic coz of the sensations you feel, then u panic that they wont go away now, then u panic that they'll NEVER go away and that u'l always feel like this. I got so bad I kept throwing up and stopped being able to fall asleep even after taking calmative tablets. It got better. I still have panic. I still have troubling thoughts and I still sometimes feel like im going to go insane or that I have something terribly wrong with my body, but it gets better. Id also like to hear other ppls accounts of their experiences. Meditation helps and yoga!!!! Do it sweety!!! Keep me informed.

I usually get those repetitive panic attacks at night when i am trying to fall asleep( that's when i recap the day and think about things i can't focus on during the day) and that is the only thing that allows me to relax enough to go to sleep. As soon as i stop focusing on my breathing, my heart starts racing and the cycle continues.

Hello Sue. Yes, I have been in that situation already. One of the things I learned was to control my breathing. I would go in a quiet place (in the office, I would sometimes lay down on the conference table and do deep breathings!). Make sure that when you inhale, your stomach rises and not your chest. Intitially, you would feel all your symptoms- the agitation, the chills or hot flashes, but try to concentrate ONLY on your breathing. If youre doing it right, you will notice that your heartbeat will slowly go back to normal. Take your time...do not rush yourself. And later on, you will learn some new tricks to go along with it like imagining yourself in a quiet island, listening to the sound of the waves or any thoughts that you think would make you feel relax. One of the most important techniques I have also learned was that instead of running away from the symptoms, I simply acknowledge everything I feel as I lie down and breathe in. And once I breathe out, I slowly let go of it like a baloon flying in mid-air...away from me. Sue,the best way to pactice this technique I am teaching you is when you have the "usual" panic attack. Remember to CONCENTRATE ON YOUR BREATHING and nothing else. And as soon as you master this, you add "flavor" to your technique. And Sue, I know it is hard, but try not to anticipate such kind of attacks (the one you were descibing on your mail). Try to get a book about breathing techniques, okay? I shall mail you again as soon as I find the website where I got an e-book which taught me how to do this breathing technique. Hold on, Sue. Agua

I am new here and I am stuck in one now. I can even do the positive self talk and tell myself to wait until something happens and then panic. Anything to try and take back control of my life. The deep breathing and trying to relax doesnt work.... I joined here yesterday and am working on the Panic Program-- anything to break this cycle. But I just wanted to let you know you aren't alone. Thankyou for your responses, its so nice to know that your not on your own with this...since I have joined the site and have met all you lovely people it has made so much of a difference to me...for the first time in 6 years i can now see that i am not going insane and that it is just purely anxiety. It is so nice to read the posts and see that there are people that have similar phobias and worrys and symptons like myself, I just want to say thanks for making me feel human. I always find it hard to reply because sometimes i just dont know what to write, but i am always gratefull for my responses. Everybody on here seems so caring it is wonderfull. sue bxx take care

I have days where I feel like I am just panicking all day. It's like it goes in waves, but never really goes away the whole day. Sometimes it lasts a few days for me. I know it's tough, but try not to think about it. Try to take each moment one at a time. Try to be good to yourself today. Take some time out and have some quiet time to yourelf today. Don't beat yourself up for the bad moments. Just try to ride them out and remember to breathe deep. This too shall pass.

has anybody ever had a really bad panic attack when they have actually felt like you are stuck in continuous panic, and your thoughts and adrenlin just keep going and you no matter how much you try you cant control it. It is like you are caught up in so much fear, you just keep paniking on top of panic over and over again, till it is so unbearable, all the physical sypmtoms and thoughts just keep coming. Has anyone had this, so bad, if you have please tell me the outcome and how you dealt with it. I would be gratefull for any advice, as this is really troubling me. sue b
