Nine days is AMAZING. Sooner than you think, you are going to start feeling really fantastic as a result of not smoking. Just hang in there and remember that in order to quit, you have to do that first couple of weeks sometime -- you're almost through it now, might as well stay the course and have it over with! It really does get so much better and if you can make it through the nine hardest days you can definitely make it through nine more.
For me it got significantly easier by two weeks. I still had cravings but I felt like I could control them instead of them controlling me. Now I'm at two months or so and when a craving hit me yesterday evening, I realized it was the first time I had thought about smoking ALL WEEKEND. There is a light at the end of this tunnel! I promise!
In the meantime, be sure to treat yourself well. Buy yourself little presents, have a fancy glass of wine to relax, etcetera. You deserve it!
Misty, it definitely does get easier! Hang in there! Think of it this way: by giving in, you would just reset the clock and have to go through the torture of the first week all over again. Not fun! Just take things one day at a time. No smoking today! Deal with tomorrow tomorrow.
Your doing great at keeping your quit so keep on going and it will get easier every day.
The craves peaked for me around day 7 and things got a lot better by the end of day 10...
Also I want to add that I used the site here and another to help me with my quit..The other site is called Whyquit.com there is a lot of useful info there and answers to all your questions..It's free of charge and you can read and use their site at your own pace no matter where you are with your quit..without having to join their site. If you are a Cold Turkey quitter and have not used any nicotine for 72 hours you can join their support group if you choose to but you don't have to join or sign up for anything to use their site to help you with your quit Ever..Everyone is Welcome to use the library of information and videos..Once you understand the Why is makes it a lot easier to Stay Quit and Never Take Another Puff = NTAP
Well done for 9 days smoke-free! Have you gone cold turkey or used NRT? Whatever you have done it is working.
No one said quitting is easy! Think how long it took for you to be really addicted! Now you have the habits to break...the physical addiction and the psychological addiction. The Nicodemon waits around to encourage you to break your quit, and it does call for immense strength to fight him and win!
Actually, it is getting easier for you, though you may not feel that yet! Your first few days were worse surely than now. Determination to succeed is what is needed. You need to break into those smoking thoughts and find a way of directing your mind to other things.
