Hi Happyinlove,

What you are feeling certainly can be considered normal in a quit. There are ways to boost your mood. First, make sure you are getting lots of exercise and healthy food. Also, pay attention to your thoughts. Sometimes it can become a habit for us to think negatively about something and as a result this makes us feel negative. Our thoughts really do shape how we feel. If you are still having trouble it might be helpful to keep a journal of your thoughts. Once you write down what you are thinking and feeling, read it over to yourself and see if you can spot any negative thinking that you might want to change. Little by little you can change negatives into positives. If you would like more information on how negative thinking effects our mood check out our sister site www.depressioncenter.net. In my oppinion everyone can benefit from understanding basic cogntive behaviour therapy techniques which the depression center program is based on.

How are you feeling today?

Happyinlove,

Don't "want" it, too much!! It will come when it's ready and when it does you will know it!!

For now, savour each and every smoke-free day that you chalk up and be proud of what you have achieved so far.

You are still climbing the mountain emotionally and everyone's journey is different but I can tell you that when you reach the top, the view is breath-taking!!

Congratulations on 3 months! Now grit your teeth and just keep on keeping on!!!

I haven't quite figured out why over three months into this process and I am still feeling sad about quitting.  You would think by now I would be over it and enjoying the benefits!  I am touchy about the littlest things and cry over nothing!  I feel like I go through the grieving process on a daily basis on losing a really good friend (cigarettes!) and am fighting to be happy about my decision.  With all of that being said, I am thankful that our home doesn't have the sound of coughing in the morning.  We smell better and can do physical activities that before would leave us breathless.  I know that what we are doing is SO worth it.  I have failed many times before trying to quit smoking...I am curious to feel how it feels to be successful!  I just want to break through to the other side quicker than I am.  I can feel it coming...I hope!
