Hi TeffyDRomero,
Glad to hear that the headaches are getting more manageable for you.   There is always going to be an excuse to go back to smoking, at least it seems that way in the beginning of your quit journey. Actually there is NO EXCUSE WHAT SO EVER to go back to that nasty, deadly, life threatening habit. Stay strong no matter what happens in your life. You are back in control now, not the nicotine. As for your anxiety, there is a sister site, Panic Center, that you might want to check out. There is a link to it above. Click on the help tab, and scroll down and click on it to take you there. It might be able to help you. That breathing exercise mentioned earlier in this thread also helps you to relax. I still use use it 5 years after I've quit.
Stay strong and hang in there.

Thank you for your response! I smoked for 15 years starting at 15. Anywhere from a half a pack to a full pack a day. My headaches are starting to ease up! Thank goodness! I decided to finally quit smoking as I've been struggling with a high heart rate since spring time. I quit twice during my pregnancies only to go back shortly after delivery of my girls. I also think I've quit three to four times since having my girls. Every single time now looking back at it I got these headaches which always led me back to smoking. Seeing a neurologist during the last time I quit who did a MRI overall it was good and he said it was just inflammation. But somehow I ended up going back to smoking anyways I ultimately decided to give up the habit in June and went back to smoking in July as i allowed a "stressful job change to be an excuse" in June they did a 24-hour Holter monitor said that it was just sinus tachycardia. But it seems that the heart rate is getting worse and it's also causing me to get very sick getting extremely tired loss of appetite out of breath can hardly do my job because my heart racist if I did more than 20 minutes of physical labor. They also believe it's due to anxiety I feel like I have my anxiety under control. Truly feel like there's an underlying condition that they're not finding or overlooking. I'm now super afraid that my smoking has covered up and/or caused another health condition. I am so anger at myself for picking up the bad habit!! I don't ever want to go back to it as I am struggling with the nasty effects it has had on me.. Wish I realize this a lot sooner!

Hi TeffyDRomero,
Headaches are a part of the quit journey for some people. For some, like yourself, they can be almost unbearable. How long have you smoked? How much did you smoke?  "Feel like I just picked up a cigarette my headache would go away." You can't give in. You have to be stronger than the urge. You have been a quitter for 44 days now and that is a great start!!!  Try drinking lots of water to help clean your system out of those poisons you've been inhaling. You can also try the deep breathing exercise. Breath in slowly through your nose, hold for a few seconds and exhale slowly through your mouth. Do this 4 or 5 times and it might help to relieve the headache. Physical activity may also help. Go for walks, go to a gym and workout, go for a swim. Depending on how long and how many you smoked, it could also be that your brain is getting too much oxygen now. It's just not used to it, and needs time to adjust. Have you seen a doctor about your headaches? Keep us posted on your progress okay?
Stay strong.

Sorry to hear about the headaches. I'm on Day 17 of a cold turkey quit and I never got the headaches, although I have heard they can be rough at times. I read on another forum that some people suffered from these headaches for 1-2 months and it drove them nuts, to the point they wanted to smoke, then they woke up one day and gone. Hang in there and stay hydrated.

I quit around Sept. 18th and about 2 to 3 days in a started getting nom stop burning headaches from the time my feet hit the floor till I fall asleep. I feel pulsation in my temple, I also still have other Withdrawl symptoms but I can not function day to day because NO medication give me any relief. Anyone have coping advice or things to help ease the headaches. Or anyone think its normal for me to still be dealing with withdrawal symptoms when it's been over a month now. Feel like I just picked up a cigarette my headache would go away I don't ever want to go back two cigarettes because you're not worth the health risk and I don't ever want to go through their withdrawal process again I just want hear other people stories about dealing with the headaches.
