Sleepless,
It is very understandable that you may be nervous to fly. We all have fears inwhich we could all overcome.
To prepare for your flight to paradise, you may want to practice some relaxation exercises. Take a CD player with you and play relaxing music during your take off and throughout the flight. You may even want to spend an afternoon at the airport watching the plane land and take off. From personal experience, I use to go to the airport and watch the planes and it eased my mind and prepared me for when I was to do my trip.
Best of luck,
Melanie

I went on vacation a couple of weeks ago and flew to Cali from Seattle and back. Yikes. I pulled every trick out of the bag I could. Deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, thought stopping. Didn't help that much, so realistically, next time I fly I'm going to go see my doctor to get a few Xanax tabs. My anxiety is just not manageable when I fly, so I'm going to lay my sword down and take 1/2 a tab. That was my experience anyway.
Hi
I also have a MASSIVE fear of flying, I think its the claustraphobic aspect and being in there with lots of people. I have flown once on my own on a tiny plane with 15 passengers for 1 1/2 hrs. No idea how I did it, I was in a situation where I had to get away from the place I was at and that plane was the only option so somehow I did it. That was almost 5 years ago and I've never been on a plane since. I badly want to travel but can't even walk into an airport because of all the people let alone get onto a plane. We want to get married overseas next year so getting on a plane is pretty important. So I would be interested in any advice that anyone here has for SleeplessinPA and I. Thanks.
