Is rehab is the same like therapy?

No its not. But therapy is part of rehab. Rehap may include de-toxification if the person is severely mangled. And then there is stabilization period. And once the fogginess gets lifted, they are subjected to enormous knowledge dump about addiction/chemical dependancy. Family counselling may also be part of rehab where family members are briefed of the condition. The most important thing is, people are introduced to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in most rehabs. And some of them after their release continue to attend those meetings. Those who find a sponsor and continue to work the 12 steps stay sober and lead a normal life. Those who don't go back to treatment several times until they hit a bottom. The bottom could sometime be death, hospitalization, jail, severely being injured in car crashes.
