Hi new angel, how are you going?
For the first half of last year I had lots of panic attacks in Uni classes. I found a few things that seemed to help me get through them. Actually after doing these things for awhile, my anxiety in classes seemed to go down quite alot!
I guess breathing was probably one of the main things that I used. Whenever I started to feel a bit of anxiety coming on, I would breath in for 4 seconds then breath out for 5 seconds. I would count each second in my head and did this type of breathing about 10 - 20 times in a row. To be honest it really helped alot, I could even feel my body trying to calm itself down which was great.
I used to take a drink bottle to classes which helped kinda break the panic cycle (when I drank water from it). Also having some food around really helped.
Having some positive things to say to myself seemed to help me get through the days. I used to sit at home the night before a class and write down some nice calming things I could say to myself and say them over and over a few times.
When I went into the class room, I tried to slow everything I did right down, and focus on anything but the anxiety. So if I was walking into the room I would try and focus entirely on what my feet were doing, if I was sitting down I would try and focus on what the teacher was saying or what colour peoples clothes were or just anything really. I guess you can actually be quite creative with the things you think about and it seems to draw your attention away from panic attacks and horrible terrifying thoughts!
Anyway thats the main stuff I can remember,
Good luck with it all!
:)
