NEED ADVICE PLEASE - PROBLEMS WITH HEAD/DIZZINESS

for 17 år siden 0 44 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Angel, My dizziness is most likely due to benign positonal vertigo and I had to do some hearing and eye movement tests - don't know the special term for them. Recently I also had to do an MRI and MRA. Didn't like the MRI, it was unpleasant and noisy even with ear plugs and I had to have someone with me all the time. You can't have any metal implants or fragments as they can cause serious issues. Your doctor probably can refer you to a neurologist who specialises in dizziness. I went to one, didn't realise there was such a specialization within a specialist field! Radha :)

I don't know - maybe I'm the only one who didn't know this before - but just in case it is worrying you... The electrodes are just little stickers with some gell under them to aid in conductivity. It just feels like sticking a band-aid over some neosporin. No pain or skin puncturing or anything of that sort. I just thought I'd share that since it was something I didn't know, so I avoided getting some tests done that my doctor wanted me to once. I was required to be a test subject for one of my psychology classes later, though (they were studying distraction and reaction times), and it involved having an EEG. I felt really silly for having been so worried about it before because it turned out to be no big deal.

Angel, An EEG is a test used to observe the electrical impulses in your brain. This test involves sticking electrodes to your head for a short period of time. This test can be used to determine the presence of benign positional vertigo. You're not weird, just cautious. Many individuals with and without panic follow this ideaology. (Better be safe than sorry). However, as your anxiety diminishes, this strong feeling of urgency to see your physician may also diminish. Hope this helps. Hi everyone! Thanks for being so kind and helping me out with this. I appreciate your time and concern. You are all great! Now, i'm just concerned with the types of tests they will do for the head/brain. What kinds of things did your doctor do to test this out? What is an eeg? etc I just dont know how to go to the doctor without feeling guilty. I go and i feel stupid going. I feel like i'm just wasting his time or something. And i feel like my fiance thinks i'm just too paranoid. Its always ME who is overreacting (as many others have told me). But i just like to make sure. Does that make me wierd? Does that make me too obsessed? I mean i dont go every week to the doctor. But if some new symptom comes up, i just want to check it out. I would rather be safe than sorry. I'm just so scared of all these diseases and cancers that you hear about each day. And its alwayyysss the same horrible story " So and so has cancer. The doctors didn't catch it early enough to heal it...its too late...they are dying" etc etc That just freaks me out.....i mean how can we ever know? Anyhow, sorry for the long message. Just wanted to get things off my chest. Thanks for listening!

Hi Well it seems we all have some sort of unpleasant physical symptoms! I certainly do, my head feels odd quite a lot of the time, aches and pains, sharp pains, diziness, etc etc.... I will not go on as I am sure you have head it all! I had everything checked by my doctor and now feel a hell of a lot better. I can challenge my thoughts much more effectively as I KNOW for sure that there is nothing wrong. Another way to challenge is to tell myself that I have had these funny symptoms for so long that if there was something wrong surely I would be dead by now lol. I suggest you get a medical check so you are sure there is nothing wrong and start challenging as much as you can. It is not easy and you may not loose the feelings completely but at least the symptoms will not take over and increase your anxiety to horrid levels. Lots of luck and hang in there ;)

Angel i am sorryto hear you have those annoying symptoms, i agree with everyone who says go see your doctor and have it checked out. I mean it can't hurt. And it is his job to check you out so just insist if you have to. My doctor always checks out any symptoms i ask her to and it always makes me feel better. She knows that just cause i have anxiety/panic doesn't mean it will always be a apnic thing. so go to your doctor and get reassured, is what i would do. Now that i have sais that i will say tho, that when i am very stressed i sometimes get very bad headaches. Sometimes it startsin my back migrates up to my neck and jaw then up to my head. Other time it is just like a sharp circular pain around my head. Other times it is a sharp pain on only one side of my head. Now i have had an eeg done before about this and all was well. So i was assured it is just a symptoms of anxiety tension. Tension builds up and then i get headaches. Been dealing with this for years. As for the dizzy spells. This is a new one for me. I have been getting major dizzy spells. There are three kinds: 1- Everything seems to be moving and i feel like i will tip over (i think it is du to me not breathing properly when anxious lol). 2- the world is still but something in my head is spinning. (I attribute that to breathing also hehehe) 3- My head feels heavy and my eyes get blurry and my eyes want to close on their own and i get dizzy. (I attribute that one to be overtired.) Well so oup to now those dizzy spells scare me a bit but i figure hmm had them for months now they haven't gotten worse and i am ok so meh! I try to not let it get to me and i just do my day. So this is it, you are not the only one with that kind of symptom. And what are the odds all of us with that symptom are sick? But i will have it cheked out anyway, by my doctor when i see her for my annual appointment later this spring lol just because i like reassurance :P Anyway, hope this at least makes you feel less alone with this. -Diva

Angel, It never hurts to consult your doctor to be on the safe side. Don't worry about bothering him, this is his job. Until you see him/her continue challenging those anxious thoughts. Try not to let it increase your anxiety levels. Danielle ____________________ The PC Support Team

Hi Angel, Sorry to hear you are not too well at the moment with this dizziness and pain. I don't so much have pain but more like tension type neck aches and jaw aches. I do have dizziness and vertigo, particularly with certain head positions. I recently have seen a neurologist who suspects it is Benign Positional Vertigo and I have to go for a few other tests. If the symptoms bother you so much, then go to the doctor and try not to worry too much what he might think. I understand how you feel, some doctors especially if they know you suffer from anxiety, give you a strange look during consultation. But we have to be firm and if the symptoms are causing you a lot of distress then the doctor's have to take your distress seriously. If they don't well see someone else. Hope this helps. Radha :)

Hi everyone. I know this was posted a while ago. But i have been experiencing some odd sensations in my head and its freaking me out quite a bit. On the right side of head i have this re-accuring pain. Its like this shooting pain that comes out of nowhere. I keep thinking that for SURE i have a brain tumour or some serious health problem. I hate thinking this way. But i cant control it. Anyone get this? Or sudden dizziness where your head feels like its moving? Its happening as i type right now....the pain is worrying me. Not sure if its worth bringing up to my doctor. I just feel like i keep bugging him with all these problems. Anyhow, i would like your input. Thanks!
