Lester and Maggie,
Thanks for responding. I am taking a Psych class right now and we are learning about possible causes and triggers for anxiety disorders, particularly panic disorder, and you learn different theories that certain people have genetic vulnerabilities to it, others have environment triggers like trauma/stress, caffeine, drugs, etc, and some have a mixture of both. I just wanted to get an idea of how many of us here fall into certain categories. My experience was a mixture of trauma/intense stress and a genetic vulnerability since my mom also suffers from panic attacks and agoraphobia. It is my understanding that, just like high blood pressure and other diseases, I had a gene for panic disorder/anxiety and then stressful life events triggered that gene to become active and now I have the disorder. I really like to hear other people's stories to gain a better perspective on the stuff I learn in class because actual stories are better then textbbok scenarios. Thank you guys for sharing ;)
