Thanks for that but I do not have trouble falling asleep and when I do sleep I sleep very well! I do however wake with a panic attack and once it has passed I fall asleep very easily. So it is more about why these are happening even when I am not particularly anxious....
Moochela,
When you can't sleep, get up and do a relaxing activity. This helps distract your mind from anxiety. You may also want to try visualization techniques as you're trying to drift off to sleep. This also keeps your mind off the fact that you haven't fallen asleep yet.
Increasing your level of physical activity is another great tip as it does wear your body out and make it easier for you to fall asleep.
Lastly, implementing a relaxation technique into your bedtime routine may also help. Stay away from caffeine & television as these also interrupt your brain' ability to wind down.
Hope this helps,
Josie

Do I keep getting panic attacks after I fall asleep? Irregular in frequency but always at the same time, around 12.30am!! Very odd, nothing physically wrong with me, have had checks.... Is it normal for them to happen at the same time? I feel I am managing them and they are easier to deal with but I still get freaked out. Do i challenge the panic attack thoughts as there is nothing else to challenge i.e. I do not know why I am having an attack - do not really get them when I cam awake, only anxiety but no attacks. I am sooooo, sooooo puzzled!!!
