Hiya Christina!
First i would like to welcome you to the forums :)
Second, I think you are taking all the right steps atm. Your doctor will be able to run some tests and give you a proper diagnosis. But in the meantime to help you let him know what is going on you should take the anxiety test that is on this website. You can print your results and bring them to your doctor and that can be a good starting point for you to explain what is going on with you.
Third, I must tell you that i have panic attacks in different locations, situations, for different reason, sometimes unexpectedly out of the blue. So just because you don't perceive yourself as stressed does not mean you are not having panic attacks.
But as I said i think you are taking the right steps by going to your doctor, He is the person to go to to check this out. Once you know what is up with you, you can deal with it and it will get better :)
Anyway, kep us posted! and remember, this too shall pass! So hang in there!
