Fireman1...just some already known things to add If you feel OK driving 6 miles away from home, next time drive 7 miles, next- 8, next- 9 etc. You know what I mean :)) Step by step :)

Yes, I totally agree, EXPOSURE is not so easy (to say it in mild words :D) but it is worth it! I have fought almost all of my "dread spaces and situations" and now the biggest one comes- airplane.I am flying in 2 days. Guess what? I myself bought the ticket and noone pressed me to do that. Why did I do that? It's a part of an exposure work. Sometimes I feel paralysed because of fright that I have to fly and sometimes I think I will be able to handle it no matter what. Here are some things for you to consider: - What's important is to experience the discomfort and see that you can survive it without using typical avoidance techniques; - To master the fear, you have to experience it, to get used to it; - Anxiety doesn't lead to death, insanity or heart attacks. If you practice managing situations that make you nervous, the anxiety eventually goes away. It's that simple. I am trying to keep these things in my mind before and while flying. Wishing everybody good luck on his/her exposure work! :)

Hi Fireman1, I completely feel what you are going through. I cannot drive more than about 4kms at the moment, can't even drive my beautiful Daughter to school, that is cutting me up the most. Stick with it. i know we can all achieve peace and recovery. I am only doing homework for week 2 at the moment but will get better everyday I hope. Take Care Conquer Queen

Hi fireman1, Thanks for sharing your thoughts here on this. Panic while driving has been a very popular topic here. You may want to take the time to look through our old posts here using the search feature if you were interested in others experiences with this same concern. Sometimes it can be very helpful to know that you are not alone in your fears and concerns. You have the right idea - start with smaller goals first and then work up with each success. Please keep us posted. You can do this! Casey _________________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Well I Knew it was coming the dreaded word...EXPOSURE.... I am afraid of driving alone away from my home. I can handle short trips to the store but anything over 7 miles away from home gets my panic attacks fueled and ready for take off . I keep thinking on no the father I go the longer its going to take me to get back to my safe space at home. I am really dreading this part of the program. I wish I could put my house on wheels and drive it down the road ..lol..
