Well Wholesale5 thank you very much for the reply. What you say makes sense. And btw I do that too, stop at a session until I feel I did it right lol. But this session i must admit scares me, I bet i will be on session 9 for a long while lol. But thanks for saring your thoughts with me it makes so much sense it helps me get over the fear and shock of it again by seeing the long temr advantages this could bring. I guess i wil give it a try, but seeing as I am chicken about this I will try with the ones that scare me least (cause they still terrifie me) and work my way up to the nastiest (which for me is hyperventilating). I figure baby steps right? Of course some of them i can't do cause of my back and some i can't do because i lack a swivel chair lol. But i will give it a go. Thank you for being so brave and cool-headed about this wholesale and for replying to my post I think I will give it a try and stick with session 9 until I feel ready to move on. Your attitude really inspires me to try this thank you :) -Diva

Haha - I am on session nine this week too! I've been moving through the program rather slowly - but I don't ever want to move on to a new session until I feel I have really worked hard and done everything I was supposed to for the last one. Anyways - I think I see why this is supposed to be good for us. This is all conjecture, though - I don't profess to actually know what I'm talking about!! Haha. For one thing, I think it teaches us that the physical sensations are not necessarily coming from any underlying ailment (b/c we can create them on command by doing simple, non-dangerous things) - and, more importantly, that they are not going to kill us (b/c who ever died from breathing through a straw for a few seconds?!). If we know that we can turn these types of feelings on and off, they will hopefully become less scary. Plus - it's exposure. Exposure to those terrifying physical sensations. In my experiences with exposure so far over these past few months, the general pattern is that at first it causes an increase in fear (b/c intentionally going into scary situations is way more frightening than avoiding or quickly escaping them), but then through repetition that fear drops big time. So if I can get to the point where hyperventillation and dizziness no longer scare me, for example - then next time I'm driving and I start to get those physical sensations, it won't be a big deal.... Hopefully. Like I said - I have no idea whether I'm right on any of this stuff - but I'm going to try it and find out!

Ok, well Angel got further then I did. I basically read the session and then printed the I.E worksheets. And I am considering trying something but I am iffy (or more like terrified) about this. First some of them I cant do, like shaking my head I cant bad back and such. As for swivel chair well I dont have one. But what is stopping me is being terrified. I dont know why I would want to wilfully induce symptoms similar to a panic attack to myself. Especially since those symptoms make me panic! This will be an exercise on how many ways I can make myself panic! As you can see my anxiety level about this one is very high and I am not even sure how to proceed with this. So before I even attempt this I will need much reassurance and much answering of questions. First testimony from people who did it and lived and that it helped them would be helpful. Second, so do I have to do all of them or do I do like the session guide says and pick three and practice those? Third so I do those exercises for one minute at first? And repeat the minute 5 times, resting in between to get back to ground zero? Four- I am scared out of my mind of this. The only exercises that dont scare me too much are the ones that induce symptoms I dont really get! But I find the idea of say hyperventilating to be extremely panic inducing! Anyway, I really want to move forward with this program but I am not sure how to get over this hump! Any help would be appreciated! -Diva

Angel, The degree of intensity will vary. Take it slowly if a minute is too long work your way towards it. Baby steps. Practice controlling your breathing at the same time. Let us know if we can assist you any further. Danielle ______________________ The PC Support Team

Hi. Sorry to bother you. I need help from one of the support specialists. I am on session nine where I am asked to do Interoceptive Exposure work. I just tried to do the 'spinning in a chair' for 1 minute. I did not think it would be that intense i had to crouch down on the floor cause i was extremely dizzy. Can someone faint from doing these exercises from how intense they feel? I know i have to do it 5 times but now im' afraid to even do it again. I promise i will try. I just want to know if they are supposed to be that intense. Maybe i was spinning too fast. I'm also scared of doing the hyperventalittion....do u think i should work on easier thigns first and then do that one? let me know what u think thanks so much
