You're welcome :) I am glad it went well for you and impressed at how well you deal with that. I must admit I am not really great with guests in my house. Thanks for letting me know how you are :) And yeah I agree with you, live your life your way with the people who love you. If you ask me that's the best way to go :)Very wise of you :) -Diva

Hi Diva, Actually it went just fine. I guess I knew what to expect and they did not disappoint so it ended up being nothing new. At least they do not visit very often ;p. I am just going to live my life the way that works for me and not worry about what they think of me anymore. I have great friends who love and appreciate me just the way I am. Thanks for asking.

Hiya Lorlee, Was wondering how your family visit went. I know I would have much trouble with hordes of invading relatives coming to my house. I was wondering how you were handling it. Anyway, take care :) -Diva

Lorlee, It does make it harder. Again, the only thing we can do sometimes is try to educate to foster understanding. Hoping despite all this, your visit goes well. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Thanks guys for responding. I know I should move beyond this as I have gone through it for years. I am just tired of the labels people put on this disorder. I love my great niece and nephew so much but they will never know me that well. The stigma of this disorder makes having healthy relationships alot harder than it needs to be.

Hiya Lorlee! I so empathize with you. There are some people in my family with whom I have the same problem! First they don't get it! Second, they don't want to get it! Doesn't matter how much litterature I give them or how many questions I answer they don't want to get it. I had to come to the realization that they just didn't want to or were just incapable of it which ends up with the same result. Me not being able to be myself around them and me feeling judged by them. I think you are very brave to let them come visit you. I do not let anybody like that come into my home. The last place I want to fake being somebody else is in my home. You are tougher then I am lol. But I agree with you, eventually it gets where you don't want these people in your life anymore. The people who love you no matter what are the ones we want in our lives, the people who just get us. I wish I had some fantastic advice to give you on how to get through this but I don't. But what I can say, is you are not alone in this, feel free to vent with us whenever and hang in there, this too shall pass! -Diva

Lorlee, Please know that you're not alone. Many feel as though they are judged and stigmatized because of their panic, yet panic is very prevalent in adults of all ages. They may never fully understand what you go through but educating them on the subject may help. Go to our home page and click on: i'd like to learn more about panic and anxiety. The information you'll find there can be printed and will tell them all they need to know in terms they can understand. You can also try broaching the subject with them in a conversation. Maybe giving them a chance to ask questions and answering them may foster better understanding? Again, please know that you're not alone. I hope this helps. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

So my nephew and family are coming into town to visit. I usually get a one time visit that is short and sweet. I know that there is alot of talk about me and my little problem that nobody GETS. I am just the crazy Aunt who has been hospitalized a few times. When my family visits I am so uncomfortable. I never act like who I really am. I put on a mask every time. I certainly must come across as stable and together. I swear they think I am going to go off one day and do something completely unpredictable. Not one person in my family has bothered to look into what my condition is and I am sick and tired of trying to explain to them. I have found over the last 2 years that I have very little contact with my extended family. They do not understand me at all and have never bothered to try to. To be quite honest I am fed up with the lot of them and would not care if they called or visited at all. The good friends that I have know me and love me and I think that should be enough. Well thats my rant for today!!!
