I'm panicking about... PANICKING!

I have panicked often about panicking, and using the program here, challenging my thoughts deep breathing and also exposure work has helped me get bettewr about the whole thing. I find the CBT techniques really are helping.

Danielle (?) Thanks for your response. Maybe I have not gotten down with the tool-set available here. Personally, I use an 11x14 book as a diary- then I go beat my doctor over the head with it. Could you give me more helpful advice? And anyone else who wants to chime in- please, you are welcome! -Free Radical

Free Radical, Please continue to work through the program. It will teach you how to challenge your anxious thoughts. This is an important step in bringing down your anxiety levels. Some members have also found it helpful to learn relaxation techniques such as deep breathing. Hope this helps. Danielle _______________________ The PC Support Team

OK, I hope this is the correct forum for this. SO: What do I do when my biggest source of anxiety is the possibility that I might panic? It was enough to send me home from work early today (something I cannot afford to do.) But even that wasn't enough to prevent a full blown attack with all of the side orders available from the buffet table (shaking, chattering teeth, skin crawling, cold sweats, and finally, to top it off, puking my guts out.) My psychiatrist is medicating me to try and break this vicious circle, but we haven't hit the right combo-cocktail yet. So while I wait for him to put on his wizards hat and read the correct incantation out of some giant dusty book of spells (oh, I meant the Physicians Desk Reference- my bad), does anyone have any advice? I am jealous of the people here who have anxiety about specific things: exams, dentists, etc. At least they're real and you can talk about them. Personally, I would rather be anxious about being kidnapped by bug-eyed aliens from the planet Mog than this seemingly endless feedback loop. -Free Radical
