Good for someone else but not for yourself

Hello Maggie, I think we are all a bit like that. But you raise a good point. Thank you for sharing with us :) I find I have gotten better at taking care of myself but I still have a ways to go. At least I am making progress so it is possible! Hang in there, this too shall pass! -Diva

Maggie, As you can see you are not alone. Developping a plan with steps before your anxiety appears can be very helpful. Ex: If I become anxious I will... 1) Take a few deep breaths. If that doesn't work I will... Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

You make me laugh because I get my son's DS and play Brain Age 2 and it does calm you down, I totally agree with you, these games are soothing, maybe that's our solution!!! Thank you for answering me and understanding...you helped me today. I hope you have a good day...I'll have to look for Virtual Villagers and we'll compare notes!! :)

Hello Maggie . Just wanted to say i completely agree with you and do exatly the same !! It all comes to easy to help someone else and i have many times because you know and understand what the person is going through . But like you said when its yourself then whoahhh mind goes into overdrive and you just dont think rationally . And yes one of the worse things is to go onto the internet . I could slap myself for doing it sometimes and feel so much worse after . So now dont . Im currently playing a computer game one of my children showed me called virtual villagers . Its great !!! Not the usual game i play where i find myself getting wound up trying to complete a level ( not that im competative lol) . This game you have to solve problems and build up your village . Now im no brain box so if i can do it then anyone can . I am finding it very soothing indeed and cant reccommend it enough . ( just remember to pause it when you turn your PC off , i lost my tribe that way wahhhhhhh)

Why is it that when someone else is down, feeling sad, depressed, anxious, I can help them, talk to them, try and calm them down, I understand what they are going through (because I do it too), but when I am having an anxious moment or time, (which is now), I can't do it to myself. I can't seem to logically think right, I jump the gun, start looking at the internet for solutions (wrong), and I tell my friend, who is having a sad time, not do go on the internet, slow down, breath...I can't figure it....it's like I can't trust what I say when it comes to me. Anyone else feel like that?
