Dear Davit:  Yes, dear Davit, I hear ya.  I know when things are going smoothly we forget how bad it was, or can be.
For me, when that stupid chest pain comes back or the breathlessness (symptoms) the memories of the fear and panic flood back so fast, it surprises me.  I sure don't want to ever go back there.   now I can tell myself it's only because I'm overtired, or I'm too stressed, gotta get back to basics, do the meditation and relaxation faithfully and the deep breathing, mindful breathing.  If I become aware of these symptoms I quickly slow down and pay attention to what's going on around me and why it tired or stressed me out.  This has been a bad year for me with surgery and my close friend died just about a month ago from lung cancer.  I was with her a great deal of time, going for radiation, chemo and at the end, the hospice.  I am mourning her loss right now, with Christmas approaching and all the acitivity, I feel sad.  And also, I had a brother who died, who's birthday was Christmas day.  can't help but think of him too.  I figure those are stressors right now.  I also am the one responsible for my mother who is going to be 93 yrs. old.  She lives in a nursing home, so I don't have to do a lot of work, except the paper work, but it's the emotional strain I feel sometimes, as I am the only one who visits her and has to deal with any crisis.  My sister lives in Australia and my brother in the U.S.  I don't know why I'm writing all this, I guess I feel like sharing right now.

I hope you do o.k. with celexa and don't feel discouraged about taking it.  You know it takes a bit of time for it to work and I hope the side effects won't be too bothersome for you.  I would go back on Paxil if I had to, why not?  I believe medications, properly used, are a blessing.  Yes, there can be improper usage, abuse, etc. but we have to be vigilant, ask lots of questions, work with the doctor.  It's like the old question "if you had diabetes, you'd use insulin wouldn't you" or "if you had a heart condition, you'd use heart medications, wouldn't you".  Well, if it helps you get over the "hump" as it is sometimes said, or if it helps you manage your emotions for awhile, great.  Speaking for myself, I believe this gives people a chance to relax enough to do the CBT work and learn about themselves and what they need to heal.  Once you get back to feeling really well, you can work with your doctor and start to taper off if that's what you want.

Please take good care of yourself, I care about you.  You have been very caring about others in these posts, so it's your turn for us to care about you....

Here it is 2:00 in the morning and I have just started Celexa again 5 hours ago and got a reaction to it that I never got before and now am going through the stupidity of a panic attack all be it a mild one. I phoned the hospital to make sure the pharmacy gave me the right pill. (paranoia) Can't help that, that's just the panic. I also went to "drugs .com" and added it to my list of other medications, looking for a reaction. There is nothing significant. I knew this would happen but wasn't expecting it to be this bad. All in my head right. So hopefully I can forget how I feel right now or I won't want to take the next dose. Sitting here drinking Ginger Mint and freezing my but off thinking about all you poor people who have bad panic attacks. This is good because I was getting a little out of tune. A little to complacent. I was probably starting to sound like an idiot droning on about how well I was doing. Sorry but the thing is I am doing well! And this little attack will pass and maybe when I take the next pill (if I do) this won't happen. Positive thinking.

Peace every one.
Davit.

Hi sunny

Hope the tea works for you, it has literally been a life saver for me. If you buy it bulk don't make it too strong. It doesn't have much colour and the lemon smell and flavour disappears when it's dried. Some times it comes with lemon verbena and lemon grass for flavour. This will dilute it and it may not work as well as it should. I have been growing it for years now. It's a perennial and has a nice lemon smell and taste when it is fresh, but seems to work better dried. Side affects: It tends to be a diuretic. The other thing is it can leave you sleepy in the morning but doesn't cause the anxiety that tranquillizers do. If it doesn't work try it with calcium. Calcium may work as a carrier to get it into your system. (like vitamin C and Tylenol, Vitamin C is the carrier) I have a neat Doctor. He says if the side affects aren't hazardous and it works, do it even if it doesn't make sense. Interesting about the eyes. About two months ago mine started to burn when I'm tired and stressed. Eye drops don't do much or maybe I just want them to work faster. (male attitude)

Davit - you have convinced me, I'm going to give lemon balm tea a good try - twice a day.  I'm feeling a little more stressed than usual with all that's happening during this holiday season.  I couldn't fall asleep last night 'til 5:00 a.m.  My eyes are stinging this morning and I have to go and decorate for our group's party later this a.m., but will be able to come home and have a nap (I try not to nap too much for a better night's sleep, but today I can't help it or I'll be useless tonight at the party) Colleen's right, you're a sweetheart.  I love reading your posts.

Hi colleen.

I certainly know that gaggy can't eat feeling. I get it if I don't take calcium, even though my blood level is otherwise normal. So I have a cup of Ginger Mint tea and a gram of calcium and within the next half hour I can eat, sometimes not much but at least I can eat and I don't get that nauseous bloated feeling I get if I force myself to eat. And quite often in a short while my appetite comes right back. This is good since I have Arthritis medication that has to be with food. If mint tea doesn't work Lemon Balm tea will but it can be very sedating. Two cups a day max. It works some for panic too.

thanks davir
i have such hard nights because i sleep maybe 2-3 hours and then i wake up like every hour or 1/2 hour. i kept having fearful thoughts about not wanting to eat and fear of losing more weight. i am 5'6 and at 136 lbs but look more like 120. i must have heavy bones as i can look must smaller than i weigh.
i get all tensed up in the guts and under the ribs, so i think thats why i lose my appetite. it almost feels like a love sickness or something. its weird.

Hi colleen

Hi it's Davit. I used celexa and I notice there are a few other people using it. It is the only SSRI that I can use It does take a while to start to work and you probably won't notice when it does. All I noticed is after a few days I started to feel different, the anxiety just faded away.I hope it works for you. I liked it because it didn't make me sleepy. I would strongly advise you to stay on the xannax till it works and even then you know you have to taper off of it slowly. I only took it for a couple of months. Like all the SSRIs it can make you worse for a few days till you adjust to it. I didn't gain weight but I did get muscle pain but then I was on too high of a dose. I didn't get fogged in, I could drive and function perfectly fine.
Good luck, let us know how you do. I'm kicking around starting it again because I'm getting the winter blues, you know Christmas and all that.

I just started celexa 20. i have always used prozac and havent been on anything for a year.
the stress built up and the anxiety/panic attacks is driving me nuts and making me so nauseaus i
have no desire to eat.
has anyone else had good  results with celexa and if so how long did it take to feel any relief?.
I am using xannax as well but it is short lived and makes me sleepy so i hate using it.
I feel a little groggy or foggy right after i take Celexa but i assume it takes time adjust.
i like prozac but my doc wants me to use celexa this time.
thanks for any advice
