Its good to hear you are feeling better and that its getting easier for you to challenge your anxious and negative thoughts.  It really is wonderful how it makes you feel so much better and really positive.

OK, back again. After a few harrowing days, I went and had my eyes tested - my vision is perfect. After talking to my psychologist I've come to the conclusion that my headaches and eye pain are a result of stress and neck issues combined (I've got a seven-week-old baby and I often put strain on my neck when I'm holding him). Anyway, I've managed to work through my anxiety and I'm feeling much better. It seems to be getting easier to challenge my negative/anxious thoughts as well. So I'm feeling really positive now! Thanks everyone for your reassurance.

:Hi kitrijj.
nice to meet you. Relapse is normal. From my experience, it seems like relapses are the things that make me stronger... the more you get, the more you start to get it, even thought it's such a horrible feeling. And anxiety did make me afraid of the slightest change in my body, but now i'm starting to not be as afraid anymore after i've started listening and observing my body. you are on the right road, patience is key. just keep venting here and relase all your worries here. best wishes.

Hi Kittrij

Ashley is right. It is up to your doctor to make medical decisions. But I can give you some information that will help you talk to the Doctor. Six weeks is plenty long enough for you to have become stable. Zoloft is an SSRI. There are lots of them and each is geared to depression with added problems. In this case OCD. They work well for depression and subsequently as an add on anxiety but not always so. Your doctor may decide you need an anti anxiety also.

There is a small percentage of people that just do not do well on SSRIs. (15%) of which I am one. SSRIs work on seratonan. Tricyclic anti depressants work on dopamine instead and for those that SSRIs don't work TCAs usually do.
TCAs are more mood stabilizer. For me they work wonders. There are still other drugs but these are used first.

Relapses are normal. They are caused by you not the medication. You go along feeling fine but your mind says fine is not normal for you so you start looking for reasons to not be fine. And sure enough you find them.

What ever drug you take is still only a band aid. You still have to do the program or something very similar. And you will see here that people that stick with the program are getting cured. You will see that some are still on meds, some are not. You will see also that they don't all take the same meds. Your doctor may have to try you on different things before the two of you find something that works.

Will you get better? No reason you can't, I did. How well you get depends on how bad you want it and how hard you will work to get it. The program works. What doesn't is certain people that just don't try. I firmly believe any one can be cured.

We are here for you. You can bring any concerns you have here and we will help as best as we can. You can talk about any thing. You can yell, you can scream or you can cry. We will still be here for you. This is a good place to vent. We have all been through something similar to you.

Welcome to the group, and know you are welcome here.

Davit.

Hi Kittrij:  You've come far since the beginning and as you say you felt pretty well for awhile there.  Don't give up now, you are on the right road.  I sure understand the discouragement and fear of relapses.   Don't worry about glaucoma - I've had it since my late 40's and I am just fine though do have to have eye exam every year.  My mother is in her 90's and has it but she's o.k. too.
Also, you aren't back at square one at the very beginning of panic because now you have some knowledge of the CBT program and know that many people have been helped with it and so will you.  I hope you practice the relaxation techniques every day, a.m. and p.m.  Doesn't have to be long drawn out meditations, just some deep breathing.  You could do a muscle relaxation exercise after the breathing one in the evening when you have more time.  You may enjoy a visualization also.  I personally think the key to learning the techniques is to practice faithfully every day.  It takes awhile to learn which relaxation techniques suit you the best, but once you find them you'll love them.  Good luck.  Post as often as you wish, we are all here to support one another and we do care.  p.s. let us know how your dr.'s appt. goes.

Hi Kittrij,

Relapses are normal.  I think it is a good idea to visit your doctor as only a health care professional can give you medical advice.  However,  relapses are a part of recovery.  It takes time to get well and there are ups and downs in the road.  Try to take this period as a learning experience.  I think you have identified your trigger and that is great.  In the future what would you have done differently? What would you have done the same?

Try not to get discouraged.  You have found a lot of great resources and you have seen progress.  The more you learn and the more you fight the more progress you will see.  You will have low days but that is ok.  Learn from them, keep fighting and keep posting.  We are here to support you through these hard times and celebrate your good times with you.  Cry as much as you want if your disappointed, that is ok.  Or get up look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how strong you are and that you will get through this and be even stronger and wiser because of it.  No matter your choice know you are not alone in this.
