February Ask the Expert - Hormones

for 13 år siden 0 63 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
The strange thing for me is that I get hormonal after my period. Isn't that strange? Before my period I get very hungry and crave sweets and foods I never eat. After my period is when the anxiety kicks in for me. It's not every month but once in a while. Has anyone ever had any symptoms after their menstrual cycle?

Hi ~m, Lucid-Dream,
There's hope yet!
Before I started on the celexa the week before my period was the worst time of the month for me, my anxiety...some months....went through the roof..that combined with my  fluctuating moods..not good!  Fears and Tears!!But not anymore. Ya!!
Oh, I read an article the other day about how Doctor's are trying  SSRI's in menopausal women to help with debilitating hot flashes...it seems like its showing promise, instead of hormone replacement. Hopefully I wont have to worry about those..haha, if I'm still on one, when menopause comes for me. I'm 47, so I guess it could be soon.

There is something to be said for being post-menopausal.

OH, even before reading (I promise I will!) the article..
I know that my worst time for anxiety-related issues is just before 'that time of the month'.  I can feel myself worrying about unreasonable things and I'll even wake up in the night with strange worries that will keep me awake if I let them.  I've made the correlation and now assure myself that "it's just hormones" and that my fears are unfounded and irrational.

Hi Members,

There is a new Ask the Expert posted for February.  This month Dr. Farvolden answers a member's question about the relationship between hormones and anxiety.  Take a look and post your thoughts here!
