suggestions?

I could say I agree with you both loves trees and Davit, but for the time being I'll just take a raincheck on that.
I am only at the beginning of the program, and without posing as a victim, with everything I went through lately I just wish all my pains and aches and discomfort and ... the rest of strange feelings to go away. I guess the time will come when I'll be more accepting and I'll have a more positive attitude.

I am so glad to see that you are seeing there is more to CBT than just negative verses positive. There are a lot of things that fall within those two though, Acceptance is one of those things. I look at what ever I feel in those two though an try to stick with positive. Or at least look at it with a positive attitude. Some times I fail.

I have learned to not try to ignore or resist the pain sensations but to accept them and validate them. Like when trying to relax but my neck is tight, I don't say to myself "ugh, i could relax if only my neck wasn't feeling so sore". I try to accept that my neck is sore right now.

That is said over and over on this site and it sounds trite but it is a subtle but valuable difference between being annoyed with the pains and trying to accept them.

Thanks Samanta and Davit.

I'll keep trying, after all I have nothing to lose, but I will gladly accept more suggestions about how to be able to truly and completely relax as I feel that I could really benefit from it.

Hello alex74alex,

Welcome to the Panic Center. Thank you for introducing yourself here in the support groups. The CBT program is an excellent resource for information and knowledge on how to challenge panic and anxiety. We recommend working through the sessions of the program at whatever pace you may want but be sure to keep at it. As far as being able to fully relax goes do not get discouraged this takes time and practice it is pretty much an art form! Do a little bit of meditation, relaxation every day and the more you do it the easier you will find it to fall into the relaxed state of consciousness. It requires a lot of effort but should be effortless at the same time. You must try not to over think it. Keep practicing and soon you will find the method that will work for you. Keep us posted!

Members, how do you allow yourself to reach a relaxed state?

If you can't get away from the anxious thoughts as you relax then add in a distraction. For me it is work on my lathe. Breathing and muscle relaxation along with something I like to do works. It can take a while till I settle but I always do.

Hi everyone,

I'm kind of new here, i only started thisprogram yesterday, but i am determined to stick to it and i hope and pray that it works.
This may be a question that has been answered before, but ihope someone will be kind enough to get back to me
I have tried several youtube (no, i am not advertising for anyone here) relaxation/hypnosis/meditation clips and i've even tried them repeatedly in the last 2 weeks or so, as i read that this may be something that helps with panic attacks and anxiety. The problem I have is that I find myself unable to completely relax, all sorts of thoughts are wandering around in my mind, and/or I feel everylittle ache and pain in my body and I just have a hard time focusing on the music/sound/voice in the recording.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any "tricks" as to how to do this properly, so it actually helps?
Thanks
Alex
