I thought this was going to be about the phrase "what ever" which some people use to end a discussion when it is not going their way. I really dislike this.
But yes I have lots of "what ever" moments. There are things out of my control that can only be treated that way. Life goes on right, fix what you can ignore what you can't. (ignoring idiots is hard though)
I've been irritatated in the past when I hear this phrase, especially from older adults who could find something more articulate to say.
I've used this dismissive word to my advantage recently, however.
When something is a nuisance, and I want to swat it(take a deep breath animal activists!) like a mosquito, I just think(I don't say it since it's beneath me after studying the richness of english literature) "whatever".
Most recently, I noticed my neighbours have ignored the pigeons they attracted by setting up a bird feeder incorrectly and attracting rats, racoons and squirrels.
Instead of addressing this issue more aggressively, they had their eavestroughs cleaned and fixed. I just shook my head and said "whatever" to myself.
