How creative! I can't wait to see the Avatar. I love nature crafts. You can make wreaths and pine cone ornaments and decorate with fallen acorns (I have about a million of those :) I love Reindeer, I bet they are really cute. Is your current Avatar of Mules? They are beautiful. At one time I wanted a Mule, it was after seeing one on our cross country trip. I also wanted a Long Horn Steer - too bad I live in the "burbs" :)
Contra dance let's you swap partners, but can get complicated. I think it's similar to english country dancing. It's really envigorating too. Hate to see your avatar go since horses are beautiful, but love to see your artistic side
Hi Shari: To keep busy I made some reindeer from old wood and mosses found in the forest here. I thought with your creativity, art, you might have a laugh or two. I really "let go" and tried to flow, childlike and fun. They are small enough to make tree ornaments. I'm going to try and get it for avatar.
I liked hearing about the Circle Dance. At first I thought it was like a Barn Dance, but after hearing you describe it, it's different than a Barn Dance. I used to do the latter when Line Dancing was popular a decade or so ago. The Barn Dance is made up of two circles. The inner circle is made up of men and the outer circle is made up of women and you dance with one person and then you are twirled to the next person. So, it's like a way to meet everyone at the dance, for a couple of seconds at least :)
Sounds fun. I haven't heard of that either but sounds like an event where good times can be had, and like you said, kind of a way to get a way from it all. I guess you can get a little exercise of the body, mind and spirit all at once as well.
As you continue to go, keep letting us know how it goes, interesting
Last night I went to a circle dance. I was invited at the last minute, had 30 minutes to get myself ready and out there. It is for women. I had never heard about these until I came here. I had a lot of fun and got to meet some new people too. I was kind of klutzy at times not knowing the steps, but stuck it out and it turned out just fine. The ladies were friendly and welcoming. I'm glad I took the chance and just went for it. They are usually held twice a month at the community hall, however, these circle dances can last all day too. I think in the summer they have a wknd. of dancing, where women camp out and then can dance around the fire in the evening. It's a spiritual encounter, lots of emotions and thinking. Some ladies wear long skirts and soft Indian moccasins to better shuffle the dance steps. I think I'd like that and may try it. Maybe Santa will bring me a pair of moccasins. lol
