Not sure about which disorder I have?

Brie

In BC and Sunny tells me in Ontario also, if you get a referral to a Medicare approved Therapist you don't pay. I saw a therapist for five years, all free. Now if I wanted to see a private one I would have had to pay with no guaranty they were any better. And they are expensive.

Do the program, it can't hurt. It may well be just what you need.

When I lived in Alberta I saw a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist for free also by referral.

Hi Brie,

Getting a diagnosis from a doctor is important to determine treatment. The anxiety test might be helpful to you but please note that only a trained health care professional can diagnose you in person.

In the mean time you can certainly start reading the program. If you do have an anxiety disorder then this program may be able to help you. Anxiety is one of the most treatable mental disorders and it is actually more common then you would think. This program is based on congitive behaviour therapy princples which is one of the best known treatments for anxiety disorders. If take yor time reading and doing the homework you will see results.

Have you had a chance to take a look at the program? Any questions so far?

Are there any free resources where you live?

I am not sure how it works in the US but here in Canada we go and see just a regular doctor to get referrals etc. We have to pay for any therapy as well unless we have secondary insurance.

Maybe for now don't worry so much about labelling. I don't necessarily fit neatly into a certain disorder either. If I had to pin myself down I guess I would be agoraphobic, depressive, general anxiety and panic. Maybe a little OCD too.

My doctor told me that any CBT programming online would be identical to what you would pay for so at least this place is free. It does work just make sure you don't stop once you feel better. I did that before and found that all of this work is a permanent lifestyle. We need to continually train ourselves over and over in order to get better.

I hope this helps. I hope you have some supporters in your life. If not, come here. The people are amazing.

Hi,

Did you take the free anxiety test on this site?  This CBT program is free also and once you take the test and begin the program with identifying your triggers and start learning the coping skills you will be well on your way to recovery.  I felt better after the first session.  I would just start, the sooner the better, and you can decide then if you need additional help. All of the resources and tools that you need, are here, along with the additional help of the support group and Health Educators. Feel free to post and people will help you along the way and you can read old posts as well.  I know you will feel better when once you try it and begin the program, because just knowing what you have and what triggers you and how to cope and manage it, you are then empowered with the tools you need to begin improving your life.  All of the tools you need are here, you just have to take them and use them :)

So I am not sure about which disorder I have but I think I have panic disorder because all of the symptoms fit me exactly. I don't want to go of a whim but problem is i am uninsured and can't see a doctor or therapist. I don't have the money since my condition has put me out on a LOA cause that's how much it gets in the way of my life. I get terrible panic attacks to the point i don't want to leave the house cause I don't feel safe. I feel anxious all the time and are worried about what if i have another one. I feel sick and depressed cause I really want to do things but cant relax or get myself together.
How would I go about getting diagnosed if I don't have insurance or money to be seen? I just really want to get my life back and be happy again!
