Thanks guys. I just found out i have a layover. So that makes me feel a little better. I just hope I can enjoy my trip once I get there. When I get my panic attacks, I am a wreck for months at a time.

Platinum & Madara, You've gotten some great advice from your fellow quitters. Do keep working through the program. You may also benefit from looking in past threads on this subject for more suggestions and ideas. You may also want to talk to your doctor about the possibility of taking some anti-anxiety medication prior to the flight. Danielle ______________________ The PC Support Team

I have the same problem. I have to fly in a week's time and am afraid. I hope I will expose my panic and will let it kill me :) (and then it will stop):):):)

I must agree with wholesale that what you learn in the program here really is great to help with pani attacks in any situations really. Also, Bezerk's idea about exposure work before is good too. Oh and try positive visualisation. In your mind imagine yourself taking the flight and everything going well, just the way you want it too. I find visualisation has helped me in the past :) -Diva

You could try some exposure work, maybe taking trips to the airport etc.

Well the best thing you can do is apply the general principles you learn on here about handling panic attacks (challenging your thoughts, etc.) in any situation. I am about to fly cross-country on Saturday and I'm a little nervous about it, too. Last time, though, I did ok by challenging my thoughts and reminding myself that I can't pass out or die from a panic attack, no matter how much it feels like it. So if I do have a major panic attack when flying this weekend I'll just try to remember those things. Also, sometimes the feeling that I'm going to pass out goes away if I just think to myself "fine - go ahead and pass out! what do I care?! i'm in a seat and it will just look like i went to sleep so i won't look like a weirdo. it's not fun, but it's not the end of the world - so if you're going to pass out, just go ahead and do it!" That almost always works. It's like it takes all the fun out of it for the panic attack so it goes away =). I know - I'm weird. :) But it works for me!

What can I do if I panic on an airplane to help myself get throught he trip? I leave for my honeymoon in less then 3 weeks and am scared to death of the plane ride. My attacks started again after being free of them for a year and a half. I have been feeling so anxious all the time over this plane ride. How do you guys deal?
