I have a post here on emotions. I'm glad to see you can do SSRIs and are willing to use them when you have to. We are not Gods and it is a tough world some times. My therapist told me I am trying to carry too many emotions at the same time. The break up and my medical problems plus a few other things have left me with a lot of different emotions. Here is what I am supposed to do, it is a bit hard but it works. I wake up nauseous and there is little I can do but get up and eat and take my Arthritis pills. So I'm sad and upset and I feel pain also along with disappointment with a little anger. None of which are going to make my day. So here is the tough part. Drop all these emotions and concentrate on happy only. Pick out the one thing you want to do and concentrate on the emotion happy, even if you are not sure it will make you happy. Make it make you happy. The other emotions might break through, but kick them out again. They do you no good, You know that. The operation will happen and there will be worry but it doesn't have to be today. Put a little more concentration on the grandchildren and happy. It is tough but it works. I got three days in a row where the world was normal and extremely beautiful. Every thing was clear and nothing was disturbing me. Ha. this usually only happens as single days and usually only a few a year.

If the nausea keeps up, I suppose there is always gravol but it will make you sleepy.

You have been going through so much lately, it is understandable that everything would be catching up with you.  Panic certainly can get worse when life starts to get stressful.  This is why stress management is so important.  Review the auxillary sessions on Relaxation and Worry.  These sessions will give you skills that will help you manage the stress you are going through now.  The relaxation techniques learned in the session should be practiced throughout the day, especially when you are experiencing anxiety.  A relaxed body can help a mind be relaxed and vice versa.  For a relaxed mind of course the whole program is important but a specific session for you might me Worry.  Since you have so much to worry abou these days this session will help you manage these thoughts.  Can you identify any cognitive distortions in your worry?  If so, which and how will you be challenging these?

I haven't been responding lately, but trying to read entries.  I'm going through a lot of anxiety, I think it is all catching up to me. Have had blood pressure issues again and meds tweaked again, which made me a little nauseaus, dizzy, but o.k. now.  Had a really bad episode of hypoglycemia - oh boy, now I know what that's all about.  Am now testing glucose levels, glad to say everything is in normal range, so no worry there.  Again, all these health issues are causing more anxiety lately and after two yrs. of battling this, I'm worn out.  Doctor suggested everything I've gone through lately, surgery, deaths and eye problems are all adding up and asked about going back on SSRI for awhile which would help the BP stabilize, and I decided I would.  This time it is Lexapro/Ciraplex.  Apparently less side effects than Paxil - which is older one.  So, have started taking it - today day 4 at only half strength. Feeling some dizziness and nausea and funny tingly feeling along my face, but hanging in there.  I'm being monitored, so feel safe about it but sure can't wait for things to calm down.  
I can still do outings and activities, grandchildren are here and everything is o.k. - camping coming up soon.  These are wonderful and happy distractions for me.  Just hope this yucky nausea goes away soon though.

Hi Cleo,
I used to say, at least give me a peaceful time when I'm dreaming... but lately, I just say "oh well. I guess I still have problems with it". I'm not on my SSRIs anymore but I still get detailed dreams once in a while. Good for you for tackling the elevator fear in comfortable steps. I'm afraid to get on one now too... especially if they are many flights. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Anerol,
I am 4 weeks now on the celexa so maybe it is due to it...if it is the same with me as you on a SSRI, I hope it calms down! You're dead on about the  details and clarity...don't ever remember having such realistic dreams.  I had another batch of them last night, not scarey, thank goodness. For the new calmness in waking this med has given me I'll put up with the dreams. I am calmer then I have been in 20 years! I didn't even have any PMS  symptoms before my period.. (I've been known to get really sad and or upset)....even hubby commented about my newfound   calmness!   I am working on my elevator phobia now.I haven't gone in one yet, but I stand by the door at work and I don't get panicky! Like your dream of being stuck in your car in some unknown spot I fear being trapped in an elevator.  I feel for you too...getting to travel to some fabulous spot in your dreams only to be anxious about how you're going to get home.It's all about our fears isn't it?

Hi Cleo, I"m glad you were able to have a better sleep this time.
When I was on SSRIs, (Lexapro) at the beginning, I had a lot of vivid dreams... they were really colorful and a lot happened and I remembered them very well in details and, I had about 5 or more a night! But eventually they subsided.
This doesn't happen to me every night but I have a lot of dreams where i'd travel and will some how be in places I've always wanted to go but always anxious on how I'd get myself home! A lot of them I"m stuck in an unknown place in my car.

You are right..they are just thoughts...I had a great sleep last night..no horrible dreams...one that was a bit "naughty" haha... goes to show that they are just sleeping thoughts that I can't control but  I can control my reaction to them.

Oh, Cleo, that is indeed frustrating.  Dreams like that do leave an impression and can wreck your day. 
Try challenging them, too, maybe...because they are thoughts, just like the ones we have when we're awake.  So, when you wake up, you can try the questions?  Just a thought.

Red..Good advice..I will recheck the side-effects for  celexa..maybe nightmares is one?
Davit....Yes, it sure does help to vent here, I will try to "airwrite" ... I like that idea a lot. And I'm going back through the posts...I must have missed some.
Lucid_Dream...I think its probably a combination, but I'm not sure. Maybe Davit's right about the random thoughts coming in while I sleep...All I know is I'm a girl who hates violence and those dreams were full of it! Thats the scarey part, it was like I couldn't escape from all these terrible things around me, no matter how hard I tried.  Even when I fell back to sleep..creepy!
The day went on and I did forget about them , so I am once again going to take Davit's advice  and think that it was just a relapse, I'm doing great (which I am)  and its going to be longer between them.

Hi Cleo,
As per my username, I am a big "fan" of dreams.  I believe that they are windows to what we hold in our subconscious and they can also be used to help us. 
If your dreams are bothering you, you can actually challenge them.  Think of how you deal with the anxiety when you are awake:  You challenge those negative thoughts.  If you practice enough, you can do the same in your dreams.  There are a ton of websites to help you if your dreams are troubling you.
That said, do you think it's the dreams themselves that are bothering you, or the fact that this is a "set-back" after you have been making strides?
