Sorry for not posting any responses/comments the last few days.  I took a break from this website as I find I try too hard to look for answers and this ultimately just adds to my anxiety.  I'm doing a lot better than I was 3 weeks ago, thanks to Therapy and all of you here on panic centre.  I'm on to session 4 this week.

Cheers,

Hey Sunny,

My two cents is that symptoms are things the body does in reaction to something, be it stress, heat, cold, infection, etc. Something you don't have conscious control over. A behavior is an action. Sorry for not getting back to you faster. I also agree with Ashley that sometimes semantics aren't that important.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Red, enjoy your R & R time!

Angie,
I hope you got the help you needed today..

As for me I am going to practice what I preach and take a much needed break from the forum this weekend..A little rest and rest relaxation is in order...I really am looking forward to doing some of the things I enjoy this weekend. Thats my positive thought for today....

Have a nice weekend everybody,
Red

Red,
If Angie started the day asking about something he’s struggling with, I just have concerns about his wellbeing, since he left the thread he initiated at the beginning of the day.

Hugs4U,
You made some very good points..I would have to agree. Thanks for pointing these out.
I find that it does get confusing around here sometimes and to be a little too much for me to process...

Hi Davit:  You bet we are friends, always.  Always interesting to have a discussion of ideas.
Okay, here's another example.  We know that puppies need to be socialized to be well adjusted with other dogs and people.  So if you get a dog later on in life who was never socialized and had not received any loving it would probably act aggressively toward other dogs and people.  That would be a behaviour.   I think the behaviour stems from the symptom of fear (of people, the unknown factor) and the fear is mixed with apprehension, stress, tension (the symptoms).

Maybe I am missing something.  Come on moderators, we are waiting for an answer. lol

Sunny,

I was taking the literal sense from the dictionary, that says a symptom compares to a sign. So a symptom of a panic attack would be also anything that is a sign of one and in turn anything that you do during one, mental or physical.  Not saying I disagree with you, just that this is how I interpreted it. I do see your point too. I think a behaviour can be a symptom, but some symptoms can not be behaviours. Or could they?
Glad to see you are still my friend even though we see this differently.

Here for you,
Davit.

Hi Davit:  I don't think I agree on this one.  I think a symptom is something you feel, something you get physically, like a headache, sore shoulders, stiff neck, cramps, wobbly legs, dizzy.  Behaviours are what you do, like rubbing your temples because of the headache,  or rubbing your neck because it is stiff, or biting your nails because you feel nervous, pacing the floor because you can't sit still, or running out of a store when you feel panicky.
Maybe the moderators can help us out here. ?

Update:
I have a little update that I wanted to post today..I have been challenge my anxious and negative thoughts about some new meds I am going to be starting and some new reading glasses I have been waiting to get..I got a call yesterday that my glasses were ready and the what if's started up what if this what if that and so on..So I decided to sit down take a few deep breaths let myself relax and have a glass of tea. While I was doing this I began to challenge these anxious and negative thoughts and within 20 minutes I was able to calm down leave my house and go pick up my eye glasses..They come out perfectly and I spent the evening relaxing and reading a book I had been trying to finish reading..and I even did a little sewing on my sewing machine with my new eyes..I have to tell you will every success I have had and I have had many challenging my anxious and negative thoughts I grow stronger...The next thing I am going to do is start taking my new bp meds. I am so very happy to be reading and doing the things I enjoy again..Cbt has really changed my life. I am learning how to control my anxiety and panic.
It is no longer in control of my life. I am now in control and can turn a negative thought into a positive one if I choose to..

Angie,
There was a system problem obtaining the challenge worksheet and I've advised the webmistress.  My system didn't let me see the worksheet either.  When you have a problem that is "technical", there is an online form to contact the IT department, at the bottom of  forums.

Don't feel bad about that system problem, remember that this is a "beta program" meaning, we're helping develop a tool for the future.

As for the information you're getting, I would be confused too, since I like visual information versus text.  Finally,  the fact that we have a learning obstacle - anxiety, makes processing the different postings presented harder to swallow.

So, as Red suggested, reviewing the module helps.  You'll get it, for certain.  It also helps when members can tell when  a person needs support versus information.  I think you need support until you can chill...and then review the module, until you're comfortable.

But Angie, would you be patient as some of us are trying to be with you?
