Don't be afraid to tell your therapist and pdoc, even if ECT is suggested you don't have to do it. Although I haven't had ECT and can't speak from experience, I have read that some people with med resistant depression have had success with ECT. Have you been diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder? More exposure to sunlight or a special lamp can help with that. If you feel more depressed in the fall/winter you should mention it to your psychiatrist. ~Isil'zha veni~

win, Have you taken a look at our program? If you look to the left of the screen under "PROGRAM TOOLS" you'll find our Depression Test. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. This may better help assess the situation. Also discuss the Depression Program with your team to see if this would be a beneficial step to take for your progress. The Program was designed by doctors and can really be of assistance to you. The Depression Center was designed to support individuals with Depression. Our Support Specialist are not trained to help individuals who are having suicidal thoughts. If you're thinking about harming yourself please get the help you need by calling your family doctor or call 911 to talk about how you are feeling. Ask a family member or close friend to take you to the nearest emergency room. If you live in the USA, dial directory assistance and ask for a 1-800 suicide hotline or go to http://www.hopeline.com to get contact information for a suicide hotline in your area. Please let us know if we can help, Josie ___________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team.

Please tell your treatment team about the thoughts you are having they cannot help you properly if they only know half the story.I dont think there is a time frame for how long you have depression because everyone is different and responds to different treatments in different ways.Life will be good again for you.Gabbi.

Since Fall has arrived, I have been feeling so sleepy and useless and helpless and hopeless all the time, that I'm often thinking that I would be better dead than living, and what would be the better way to die... Is this thinking dangerous that I become suicidal? I try to challenge this negative thought again and again, but it's an obsession. I dont want to die. I've been seeing my therapist every two weeks and my psychiatrist every month since 4 yrs with ups and down I suffer from depression and obsessive compulsive disease. Is it normal for a depression to last so long? I'm afraid of telling my treatment team about those thoughts because I'm afaid that they will get discouraged and will prescribe me electro-shock treatment.I,m terrified of that. Sarah
