Dr. Trevor van Mierlo, Chief Scientific Officer @ Oct 4, 2018 11:36:30 PMHi Sadams02,
Thanks for posting! As you noted there's always been a lot of social stigma around depression, and it's easy to be judgemental when it doesn't effect you. As you know, anyone at any time can become depressed, and it doesn't have anything to do with how successful you are, how much money you have, how educated you are, or what kind of job you have. Depression can effect anyone at any time.
I see from your trophy icons that you've completed the first few sessions. Hopefully they did a good job at explaining what depression is. The program is a lot of hard work, but if you follow the sessions and do the homework you will get better.
We've also recently relaunched this program and community, and any time we have a relaunch it takes some time for traffic to pick back up. Thanks for posting as a lot of people will read your post and it will help them not feel so alone. We encourage people to post as for most, depression is a very lonely and private disorder, and people with depression often feel very lonely and isolated. This community is anonymous, so posting is safe and research shows that even one post can give you a feeling of accomplishment and hope - and that's a good thing!
Please feel free to keep posting, ask questions to me, other moderators, or community members and let us know how you are doing.
Best,
Trevor

Hello,
I've recently been diagnosed and was recommended to check out this website to help me while i'm balancing work and school. At first I didn't want to believe that I had depression especially because I use to be very judgmental about why anyone would want to commit suicide, but now I can understand the thought process behind it. The "why" behind my choices and thoughts make a lot more sense now. Hopefully we can all get better here!
